One thing which I can't find a fix for on my HTC Desire is if I lose a signal for a while I don't have any signal untill I turn the phone off and turn it on again, do you guys know if there is any fix for this?

I'm with T-mobile but the signal isn't an issue for me.

It just seems sometimes where I don't have signal then when I go back into an area where I know I get signal my phone doesn't find it and I have to turn it off/on again.

My company is buying it though so it has to look somewhat legit.. I think? Actually.. I'm not even sure what it has to look like. If I buy it I'll just expense the fucker.

Desire suddenly appears more desirable..

@ hippy

Haven't used one yet, but am tempted. Didn't use my Desire for a week after I'd bought it, as I was waiting for a fitted leather(ette) case. With a screen so sensitive, I was worried about it getting damaged. The case I've got is sort of shit, but it is "fitted", so it actively grips the whole Desire and the front flap is hard-reinforced, so all-round, is good protection. The design is shit, because the plastic inner casing is crumbling. The plastic lacks elasticity, so breaks at the corners each time the phone is taken in and out of the case.

Which screen protector were you thinking of using? The Martin Fields version looks good, but expensive.

Ah, else use one made by Belk (Rupert/Snoops and Hassn's bag company) which have some sort of plastic cover and folded out. Touching still worked, but was less sensitive.

I didn't use a cover on the Samsung, just the faux leather slip case it came with. Reckon a plastic cover would stop the screen smashing when I drop it drunk?

GA2G, don't get too excited. My Samsung had 8gb internal memory. It's just internal storage (think SD card before you actually add an external SD card) it's not the system RAM/ROM which for the Incredible are actually less than what the Desire has. The Incredible is CDMA too (USA) and it's only real advantage appears to be the camera pixel count.

@hippy, I'm hoping that Android soon circumvent the RAM/ROM restrictions, and eventually utilise a potential 40GB of extra memory storage.

I'm living in hope.

i don't understand all the angst about sales/admob requests/app downloads etc etc. as long as your chosen phone is well supported does it matter if it's in 1st,2nd or 3rd place?
the iphone and android are likely to be around for quite a while.

I kept the Samsung pretty trimmed as far as installed apps goes so I've not needed to do this.
I'm sure it is possible but you need to root your phone.
I know the custom ROM I had installed on my Samsung could partition part of the SD card to be used as extra RAM (not app storage) if you were a user that had a lot of concurrently running apps.

Cyanogen app2sd does what you are after but this says it's not required for some reason. http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/index.php/Apps2SD

It's not difficult. I'm sure Google's engineers could do it if required, but somehow I imagine it's low on the list of priorities, mainly for commercial reasons.

There's nothing stopping them from increasing the ROM size to provide additonal memory for storage. I doubt very much that you'll see significant increases in RAM size though as RAM is considerably more expensive to buy than ROM and once you start upping it you soon price yourself out the market. All manufacturers have to make compromises on the spec of a phone to ensure they make a profit on it and RAM is an area where it's going to affect the bottom line if you start increasing it.

Galaxo (custom ROM for Samsung) allows:
"Moving all app to internal memory to keep space on /system (like app2sd)"

and compcache, which "provides the ability to use part of the RAM as compressed swap":
