Not really that keen, but I am curious about the bars. What are they?

I've got some north road style bars flipped. and they sweep down a bit too much.

Now thinking of something else, but with similar styling.

Thoughts?

I've posted a few Strong bikes on here. Usually steel, some Ti, one Ti + stainless + carbon show bike.

This carbon fiber offering is lovely. So clean looking for a carbon bike. Wish ENVE would reduce their logo size on all their parts though.

A lot of it yes. But bearing in mind these are the prise winners...

* Best Paint: KirkLee Bicycles - seriously wtf???
* Best Track Frame: http://www.2011.handmadebicycleshow....leven55221.jpg?
* People’s Choice: Naked Bicycles? and
* President’s Choice: Anderson Custom Bicycles???
* Best Road Frame: Ellis Cycles (it's really nice and I'm not saying it's anti, but road frame, really?)

Those three posted here are definitely worthy, though (imo).

Yeah, this isnt working due to the honking 'ergo bars' fucking hate that term. Anyway that and the seatpin are blunting it for me, close though. The other ones just rank.

Agree on all points.

The combination of deep section carbon wheels, and skinny lugged steel tubing, can be amazing. Easy to feck up though, as proved repeatedly above.

If I was to pick a modern built lugged steel frame, with 1" headset etc. It would be Regal's feather. Beats any frame of its type, that I've seen, on NAHBS (IMHO etc.)

Very nice of you to say so, ta.

Speaking of Feather cycles, here's a new (road) bike:

http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-x3Aoq6Kqq0U/TXUXzKzuGQI/AAAAAAAAArU/j1AW22wxVI8/s1600/FEATHER%2BCYCLES%2BMARCH%2B5TH%2B2011%2B3634.jpg

Not wild about the curly seat tube carving - looks too much like a stress riser to me - but I like the bike. Needs black hoods and saddle maybe.

I'd love that frame in a light moss colour, in an audax version.

1+ on Regal, why not? steel are a great alternative to carbon and alu when it come to road bike, especially oversized one.

I doubt the steel frame is heavy as you described it to be, for instance, this is 6.04kg;

http://i51.tinypic.com/smwpsj.jpg

This is 7.5kg;

http://www.cykelportalen.dk/wp-content/uploads/xcr_main.jpg

I'm sure the owner have a reason to choose a steel frame over the alternative...

because rotating mass is a different ball game and makes more difference than frame weight when on the bike
I think carbon rims look great on steel frames not necessary but this is a porn thread

Because the extra say 900g that a steel frame might weigh, is'nt that noticable as it is static weight. In fact the benefits of the frame custom made by Feather, fastboy etc. could quite possibly outweigh this (OK you can get custom in any material, but steel is by far the easiest, for this option). Consider how your bike feels with full bidons, compared to empty. However losing a couple 100 grams off a wheelset is very noticable.
