Not very common but yeah they're allowed to. Nothing is binding until exchange as lowbrows said (although it is locked in at exchange).
Sellers/ agents normally stop advertising after accepting an offer but that doesn't stop the gazumping process, they're just being up front about looking for a better offer... -
Yeah I've been there quite a bit, it's a good setup - there are quite a few runs, mostly fairly short but a good variety, mixture of fun DH courses, 4X, dual slalom etc and some bigger jump lines if you're into that sort of thing.
Zoom down the hill, push or ride back up, repeat until tired. Really good for skills practice.
You can't really get lost inside the main park.
There is an XC loop around the outside that I used to enjoy as well but I haven't ridden that in a few years and not sure how clear the signs are, think that bit is 'unofficial'. -

Great, thanks all. MTB it is then. We won't be in a hurry anyway. I'll dig out my bikepacking gear.
@dnrc yes camping is a definite possibility - where's the site?

Any advice for riding the Icknield Way? Planning on doing it East-West in a few weeks, taking it relatively easy over a few days. I may even continue it along the Ridgeway if I have the time. Hoping to stick to the 'traditional' route where possible as the official route seems to have quite a few deviations.
Which bike / tyres would be best - touring bike with 28mm & panniers, or MTB with chunky tyre & saddle bag etc?

Cheers guys, had a pm from wadi but will let you know if that falls through.
Although I'm now intrigued by that idea @Pasty_Spumante and wondering what you'd have made from it...

Nice carbon seatpost, 350mm length, 31.6 diameter. This is virtually new but on its one ride, the saddle was constantly slipping. Turns out the saddle clamp bolt seems to be faulty (or - ahem - possibly stripped by yours truly on installation).
I now have a replacement post (same model, no issues this time!) so this one is surplus to requirements, and I've also been offered 50% off a new saddle clamp mechanism from 3T (this) which comes out at around £18 including postage.
I'd rather not bin it, so if anyone is interested in taking this off my hands, I can send you the post as it is for the cost of postage, or I can order the new mechanism and send you both parts - you just cover the costs, again.

I got a gangster bike duck as a secret Santa gift. Thought it seemed a bit crap at first but I actually love it. The propeller on his head spins when you cycle along and he has already survived a few DH runs at Woburn so I think that qualifies him for the MTB thread (rather than the shit gifts for cyclists thread which is where I originally thought he might end up).

It's all negotiable until you have exchanged contracts. Sometimes a buyer will essentially be saying to the seller, my offer of X was based on certain assumptions including that no (or minimal) work needed to be done, now that we've had a survey we can no longer afford X because we need to spend Y on the work so we can now only offer Z (often being X-Y as a starting point).
It depends how much the estate agent is on your side, how much the sellers need to achieve a certain price, and whether you're willing to play hardball. We negotiated on our purchase and the agent phrased it to the sellers as "the absolute max they can afford to spend is X" which wasn't exactly true, but it worked.

Thanks for recommendations and link to the hot drinks thread. I'm a bit surprised nobody (except Elite) seems to make a bidon-shaped flask.
@andyfallsoff do you know which Klean Kanteen model?
I might just put my flask in a sock and see if that keeps it stable in the bottle cage.
