I'm from Spain. The name "primary road" is the name I have read in the road atlas. Sorry, I thought everybody talk about roads with these names. The atlas says that there are 'motorway', "Primary route" (Sorry, in my mind, yesterday was "primary road"), "A road", "B road", "Minor road" and "other minor road".

My concern was about the "primary route". I guess I can use all the others except the motorway and any other restricted by any reason.

Here in England the roads are different from my country. You have the motorway, the primary roads and the A roads, then secondary roads and others.

I know I can't ride my bike on the motorway, but I'm not sure and can't find any information about the primary roads. And also some of the A roads seems to be 'dangerous' for cyclists, how can I know the difference between them, as for example the A41 and the A4116? Can I use both of them?

Hello everybody.

I'm new in the forum, new in biking, new in touring, new in England :)

I have ten free days and I'd like to go on my bike without thinking too much. Just letting it go. I'd like to go from Hemel Hempstead (where I live) to Avebury, then to Brighton, then to Folkstone, Canterbury, London, Hemel Hempstead.

As I'm new I'm having problems calculating times. Do you think ten days will be enough. Can I add something else? Maybe I have to forget the last destination? I will be using camping sites if they are open and free camping.

I don't know if I can have problems with the police if a camp in a field. Do you know something about this?

I will do the trip with a trailer.
