so in a burst of stupidity - i peeled off the reflective tape of my Ritchey Speedmaxes because #going rogue or dumb :P - the tyre is liek this on both sides - anybody do anything this stupid before .. is it safe to ride ?
no bulging but yeah it stripped the fine layer of rubber off the sidewall casing
-
fine i'll give it a chance and keep an eye on it from time to time it really is just a scratch - truth be told the commuter seatpost has deep gouges in it for years and has shown no sign of cracking - thanks guys - i'll also take it to a local repair guy .. maybe he can add some epoxy to avoid delamination

so i managed to dent the steerer tube while cutting it - rubbed off against the edge of the plaster board i was holding it on [dumb dumb] - what do you guys think ? picture might make it look dramatic but it has very little depth - sub 0.5mm and is somewhere around the halfway of the headtube....
time for a new fork ? is it fine ?
in the same adventure a Ti bolt snapped on me - granted it was a harsh winter... non cannondale related - its a 3T Team stem - going back to the cannondale one or at least the steel bolts...

If you got the money Clement XPLOR Mso's - Budget heavies Schwalbe CX Comp - dirt cheap work well enough on dry and wear well on road - Mid - Maxxis Raze [they do wear out fastish] - just for looks maybe you can find some tanwall Schawlbe Rapid Robs - pure commute Delta Cruisers seem to last forever and are nicely grippy.

wide, great with 25s and 28s, stiff, cheaper then the heds, dtswisses great looking even with the brake track worn off simple clean design taking cues from old wolbers and such with that font along like that .. so much so that curve be doing it too :)
got a 3 year old pair brake track still shows no sign of signifcant wear
allso the silver ones are BLING
-
yes lawd ! :) readers wives warning - i was not a believer in the aero or the tub but recent rides have swayed my thinking on the matter - allso tubs with tape are very easy to fix with a spare and decently so with gunk - vittoria let me down tho... :|
need to get one of those tiny tiny headset caps come spring .. my body is ready.

dug up the old frame its been sitting in storage a little fluff rust around the bb area but i guess its to be expected. 1900 gr is pretty good allmost feel bad putting the heavy square taper on it. :) gonna build it up with the downtube shimy 600 so iy should be pretty light .. Bb is the only offender ...
Anyone know what make that fork is.. Had it for a while but never bothered to ask. Its got a full carbon steerer too

sooo .. any reason to worry about putting a carbon seatpost in an alloy frame [caad10] or vice versa [ a alloy seatpost in a superx ] ? can't seem to get a clear answer... don't live near the oceal/sea and well the cross might get ridden in the wet [carbon frame alloy seatpost] but the roadie not...

So i got a full-ish 600 tricolor grouppo - fd and dtshifters not pictured so i guess im rebuilding the steel frame - PUCH Vent Noir ii - as a sort of townie beater rat .. Even have a set of tricolor wheels that are sitting around .. Forever amazed how durable this grouppo is.. Despite some pitting and scratches it seems flawlessly operational. Threadless carbon fork kinda will ruin the period look .. As will the os stem and compact bars but hey.. Big hands
-
Roadie - caad10 Think i'll stop here - tempted by aero wheels but crashing my CX9 means im now building a new crosser. Had kinda mixed feelings about the high spoek count on the front wheel but after a recent ride realised they're not a big issue .. climbing is :)) We'll see what happens ... Still tempted to black out that chainring ugh :) KCNC stahp

This PINA Tho o_O looks great - so tempted after seeing this to rebuild a similar Puch frame with rat parts for city use. Only thing i would skip is the period saddle.
You can strip the velato very easily either with paint stripper or heat gun - but don't lol :) i felt sorry after doing that to mine - the ratty look really suits it #madmax
-
@all thanks guys - spanner in the works is right :) currently torn between 1 and 3 i'll see what the painter can safely manage dont want to give him too much trouble - will post pictures
@Normai love the clean design and the improvd TT protection .. looks way better then the doorstop rubber version :) allso very very clean ... could maybe do with fatter tyres no ? 28-32

Maybe some resident expert can help me its been messing with my mind like crazy.
I have a pair of custom built road wheels with H + Son Archetypes, Sapim Laser Spokes 1.5 section throughout and Dura Ace Hubs only they are 32H both front and rear... i've always been satisfied with them.. im rather heavy at 88kg - never thought they had any flex at least not climbing - they come in quite light at around 1600 1650 w/ skewers
Here's the problem
Should i worry about the high spoke count especially on the front keeping me down aerowise ??
p.s. i can avg 35-36k/h on the flat with decent wind conditions and recently tried cosmic carbones they did glide nicely on the flats but i did have a tuffer time climbing on them.
p.s.s. i tried comparing with aksiums which are heavier but since no 2 rides were alike in conditions im starting to think its all in my head.
either
some wide 44 drop bars that flare out on the drops - i forget what they're called - paired with some simple aerobars for long straights
or some narrowish mtb handlebar with bar ends and again the aero bars for long distance comfort
either one is miles above the other suggestions as far as versatility goes - depends only on what brake levers you fancy - also these solutions offer maximum customization as you can tweak almost any dimension
