Awesome thanks for the help, will look at the dia compe BMX Brake levers, not a fan of the gold finger so will stay away from them.
Yeah i researched it a bit with the gear lever. I just got confused with my rear gear number and the type of shifter I need. Was just looking for a simple shifter. I have counted 7 gears on the rear.
Planning to run a single chain ring on the front.

Hey guys
I have a Cannondale Sr800 criterium 3.0 series and I am wanting to fit riser bars on it.
It has down tube shifters so I just need to get bars and brake levers to make the conversion (will just keep the down tube shifters).
I have purchased a quill stem adapter. Now looking for a set of bars and brake levers.
Do you think some cut MTB bars would be OK?
What are your recommendations on brake levers for a roadie flatbar conversion? -

I'm keen on getting a 27.5+ for my commute to work and back. Been riding my 29er mtb and loving it. Saw a sweet 27.5+ available but concerned that it will not be suitable for on the road / pavement.
Want the flexibility of taking it off road too as well as commuting to work.
Could be keen on CX but just does not have that mtb feelz.

That is really interesting! thanks
Read this too: https://roadcyclinguk.com/gear/gravel-bike-might-need-one.html#LrkJHvvTmyKdxwMU.97
So it is between a Enduro and cyclocross. Sounds good, so many different disciplines now will make it hard to shop around I guess. Looks like retailers are having trouble with categorising them all too.

Hi all
So I have been cycling to work on a Hard tail MTB 29er.
It is super fun and the reason why I ride it is because of the tyres really. Sometimes I need to ride on pathways and the cycle lane has gravel and bits of glass everywhere.
But i feel like it's a bit heavy for the road and not really that fast. I am thinking of selling my old ass car too which is costing me dough rather than providing transport. So I need a replacement to the car really as this would be doing a lot of k's.
I have been researching cyclo-cross bikes as an alternative to the mtb. As it is sort of like a road bike but with fat tyres. I don't want to be a lycra wearing sort of rider. I would ride my fixed gear but i have to tackle a few hills and the tyres will explode with the shit that I have to ride over.
Is a cyclo-cross bike a good step from an mtb / road? does it provide that flexibility with the larger tyres?

I have a Dirty Harry Goldfinger brake lever that does not quite fit onto some mtb riser bars.
The problem is I have lost the other half of the shim so having one does not work well with the thinness of the mtb bar ends.
Do you know of any solutions?
I have read about cutting a beer can or duct tape.
I dont know if the beer can solution would be thick enough and the duct tape is a very good idea.

Trying to decide on what to do here for a new build.
Have been looking at all city double plastic toe clips and unsure of the leather straps.
Or ynot with flat pedals too
Pedals seem to be a choice of MKS Sylvan or GR9's
Did quite a lot of googling on this and still back at square one, it seems like you can spend a lot on pedals and straps (e.g. Toshi)
What combinations do you use?
