Tattoo shops are open again round here (The Hague) so I’ve started on my chest piece and booked two slots with an other artist so she can finish my left arm after 5 years...
Had my right arm done last year by the same bloke who is doing my chest. Holy flying everything I can think of lining on your chest is painfull! Seriously contemplating using an ointment next session.
Left arm; Lyz @dappertattoo Delft
Right arm/chest; Mark @onedge Den Haag
Random fotos showing some angles :D -
No gravel around The Hague but some extremely tame single track that is sleep inducing on anything MTB (it’s an official MTB trail) but good fun on a gravel bike #nomtbtrail

So, I needed a place at home to sit behind a computer (iPad and keyboard) and pretend to do actual work. Problem is my apartment is 30m2 and I really didn’t want to put a desk in there. Lying on the couch and using the screen to type didn’t cut it either anymore. I do have a low bookcase on one wall, an IKEA Besta, 65cm high/ 40cm deep/ 240cm long. And I have acces to a shitload of scrapped oak beer benches that have been sitting in a field during the aftermath of our first lockdown. The oak tops are very weathered and the legs are rusted. So we’ve taken them apart and I (we) can use the boards as we like. Cue running nine of those boards through a sanding planer, squaring them off with a big big table saw, and glueing them together to form worktops that I cut to shape. I used lamellos/cookies to strengthen the bond between the boards and the gnarliest tears and knots got filled with clear epoxy. I sprayed on one coat of clear laquer before bringing them home to see how they fit before bringing them to work again to finish them with a few more coats of laquer. I’ll fit a simple plinth under the bookcases to raise them up to the required hight, 9cm should do it.

Last “proper” workout of the year done. Time for some numbers...
2020; 2*20, 3*20, 4*20, 5*20
- 2*20: on the last day of 2020 I turn 40
- 3*20: 60kg (5x3) benchpress & barbell row
- 4*20: 80kg (5x3) squat & bodyweight
- 5*20: 100kg (5x1) deadlift
Started structured training again in Oktober after months of hardly training and dicking around. Started doing Starting Strength from November, easing myself into the big lifts and adding weight every workout. Only skipped working out during the hollidays, did get some bw training in though. Really happy with these numbers, good starting point for 2021.
Goals for 2021: turning 41, benching 1*bw, squating 1.5*bw and deadlifting 2*bwEnjoy the last days of this year and have a good new years eve!

Cool pic! My grandfather used to work with a bike like that before and during WW2. Maintenance and repairs on the phone network. According to the few stories my father had (my grandfather was forbidden to talk about the war by my grandmother) he used to distribute food and foodcoupons (bonnen) with it to people in hiding.

Sort of done outfitting my tiny gym now. Testing the bench I build before finishing the steel frame. The top is made from some oak I had lying around from badly water damaged beer benches (?), the frame is from steel square tubing. It comes apart and folds so I can store it under the bed when not in use. Well, when not in use while my girlfriend is staying with me...
Quick breakdown of the equipment: bar and plates are Decathlon except for the 2,5kg and 1,25kg plates. Decathlon doesn’t make those, I found them secondhand. I’ve got just a bit over 160kg at the moment. There’s a dipping belt hanging from the rack for weighted pullups, a couple of jump ropes if I don’t feel like running or cycling and hidden in the pullup rack there is a pulley I use for cable exercises. Made a simple plate holder thingy that clips to the cable. Not in the picture are a TRX clone suspension trainer and some gymnastic rings. I just strap them to the rack when I want to do some bodyweight training.
It’s a very compact multi use setup that didn’t cost the earth because I built a lot myself.

I recieved some more plates and made a simple plate storage unit last week.
Training wise I’m doing Starting Strength but I added chin/pullups straight away because I really like doing them 😅 (and some bicep/tricep work ‘cause vain...)Edit; Oh, and started making a simple bench at work today. Reclaimed oak top and steel legs.

Tiny house gym setup: allready had a pullup rack thing with multiple hand positions and a bunch of weight plates. Took a grinder and a welder to my rack while at work this week and made a tiny wall mounted squat rack. Waiting on a better bar and some more plates and need to make some spotter arms and a wall mounted collapable bench next week. Can do all the the mayor lifts and a bunch of accessory work at home now.

My dad drove the same Volvo 144 for twentyseven years. Daily driver. Swapped the engine after 500k km’s himself. Then a drunken twat in an Opel Kadet rear ended him at trafic lights, Volvo was economicly totalled. So he bought a twentyfive year old 145 as a replacement ‘cause he always wanted an estate... 😎
I have a ‘19 Volare 853 Disc in large for sale. Frameset, 1200 miles, a couple of tiny scuffs, Shimano bb installed. It is in The Netherlands, shipping to Plague Island might be a problem...
