Exactly. I gave up and just embrace the scratches and patina now. Also, lovely frame.

Holy crap! Sorry to thread hijack/revive a old thread. But small world. I actually own that red track bike you first posted. I too was puzzeled by the mystery of frame. It's obviously zeus related. That DBC bicycle looks very similar, and I've seen Martos track bike floating around on sites that looks very close to ours.
Whats even more interesting is the crown on the fork crown engraving is usually associated with frame builder Giovannia Losa. I can't tell from the picture but that DBC looks it has the same fork. Here's some more information (sorry for linking elsewhere)
