Thanks Mr Bump although that's slightly higher spec that what Im after, just looking for a bog standard version if possible so the build cost doesn't get out of control. I have the rear already so I thought first step might be to find the front, instead of buying another wheelset

Hi,

Im building up a Basso Viper, so far I have:

suntour superbe pro front derailleur
suntour superbe pro rear derailleur
suntour superbe pro gear levers
suntour superbe pro cranks
suntour brakes

So, next step is to find a wheelset, does anyone know what would work well with this setup? I am thinking that a 12/14 speed 2 front chainrings and a 6/7 speed cassette. I assume this will work ok with the rear mech?

Then I need to get a shim for the seat post which to convert it from 30mm to 27.2 and also find a thread less stem and some bars.

I've only ever built one other geared bike (a vitus 979) and am used to building track bikes so I'm a bit nervous about this. Was planning to sell the frame but there wasn't much interest so Im going to have a crack at building it. Any advice would be very welcome, as would hearing from anyone with suitable parts for sale.

Thanks for the replies, Steel of Rotterdam I have sent you a PM, Dumps I'm interested but I think 135mm is on the long side, Mr Bump, I'll bear the carbon seat post in mind but I'd prefer it undamaged

These seatposts seem to pop up and disappear pretty fast so if anyone has got one lying around and is willing to part with it then please let me know.

I'm also on the look out for campag track hubs/ track wheel set and cinelli 1R stem and cinelli bars (preferably 2-40)

Thanks Alex, that is a lovely frame but I think Im going to build up the pennine and then take if from there. Thank you for the tip to check out what HS had on offer, it actually not such a bad price and will look great once Ive had it sprayed.

This sounds really interesting, 23" is lightly on the large side for me if that at ctc measurement? The largest frame that Im comfortable riding is a 57.

I'm also surprised that so few people know how good these frames are, but then I have to admit that I also knew very little about these frames not so long ago. The frame is available but I will be away on holiday as of tomorrow until the 15th Sept so please bear with me until then as I will have limited access to emails. If you would like to dibs the frame during this time then I will honour this on my return.
