So it's not just charity shops that haven't heard about Discogs yet.
Nice haul!

Yes it is at the Truman's. The space is shared with some vintage clobber event.
No idea what stalls will be there sorry. I expect it to be a mixed bag of mostly old/pre-owned records.WALTHAMSTOW RECORD FAIR

Saw live this week-end the Kansas Smitty's House Band and Xhosa Cole Quartet at Shoreham-by-Sea's New Generation of Jazz festival. I didn't know K.S. had also been running a bar in East London for many years - although not currently it seems.
Got my tickets for Gala (Thursday only) and REALLY cannot wait for that one [Nubya Garcia, Joe Armon-Jones, Sons Of Kemet. Even Goldie FFS...]

I think the "small speakers" boxed up in my loft [I saw today] are 2020i. Oak or something light veneer. Not bad condition IIRC. Let me know if you still need speakers @Calben

Since we're talking decks and carts, I recently picked up my old Thorens (deck #1 at home) from Hearsay in Lewes.
Since I live South and work even further South, it made sense.
I wasn't disappointed and would use them/him again.
One-man band Brett working from his shed rather than big shop on the High Street, he was very thorough and gave me back a superb sounding tt.
Cost was very reasonable too considering I also asked for a rewiring of the tonearm.
And the upside so to speak of the Thorens been out for 2 weeks was that I was able to find an old Pioneer PL-12D from a guy in Brighton as my #2 deck.
Partner not impressed but hey... ;) -

The Passat was rather underwhelming. Compounded by the fact the whole family turned up. Think I messed up their Saturday plans. No real test drive possible but I don't think it was needed.
The OB though was pure joy. That car has been so well looked after and the engine purrs like a kitten. Only blem is surface paint damage on front bumper on a corner. Nothing major.
Now to try and agree a price.... -
Thanks.
That T4 in the end wasn't anything special. The conversion had been done to a good standard but overall let down by a rusty bodywork and loudly ticking engine so I walked away.Tomorrow we're off to Norf Landan to check out an Outback (auto petrol 3.0) and a Passat (manual diesel 2.0 TDi). On paper I like them both equally. The OB will be more expensive to run and is 9y older. But is likely to be very reliable. Both have very clean MOT history and with similar mileage (95k or so). So it'll be hard to decide.

Looking for a suitable candidate to replace the Grand Picasso. Ok car but this one is really not a good example.
I need high suspension (for carrying heavy loads on regular basis), good mpg and reliable. And cheap to tax if possible. A good sound system would be great too although obviously no essential.
A 1.6-2.0 engine, petrol or diesel, would be fine I guess.
The current 1.6 HDi with turbo on the C4GP is adequate and returns a good mpg on the M'way.I've shortlisted:
Subaru Outback or Forrester
Volvo XC70 or 90
Jeep Compass
C4 GP manual petrol
Mercedes VitoAny other worthy recommendations?

I recently discovered the Vinyl Buddy cleaning kit (£10 on Amazon) and it's brilliant for quick surface cleaning.
It comes with a fine spray bottle and a large micro fibre cloth (spectacles type rather than fluffy stuff) which is great.
Plus a brush etc.
Still running a paint pad in the groove when needed for a deeper clean.
Who needs an expensive machine when you can get so much satisfaction out of doing it yourself by hand. -

If you can travel further South and don't mind the 4-8 weeks lead time, I'd recommend Brett at H.E.A.R. audio near Lewes. He's done great job on my 2 TTs either side of Christmas and although the 2nd job took about 8 weeks it was well worth the wait. He's very thorough and won't overcharge you.
I called Croydon's Audio Centre (since I live there) and they charge £50 just to look at a job and provide a quote. Glad I walked on.
