I think there is a massive difference between challenging music and just plain old shitty music. I find Mozart challenging but it's always rewarding to listen to.

Regarding what you said about Zappa.And yes I'ma bit late to the party but I always found Zappa aggressively anti music. However I do adore Cardiacs.....people traditionally find them hard to get along with? Any fellow fans here? And yeah I love some Krautrock also.

All of life's a variation on a theme and there are only so many stories we can tell. 'Last night was so great/crap because x/y/z happened'. 'I'm so happy/sad because of x/y/z'. 'Shall we go to the pub/party/cinema/dinner/stay in and invent a new chromosome?'. 'My job/relationship's so bad/great/doomed right now'.
