Well done to everyone taking part. I've had a close eye on the event this time around and it looks like an amazing experience. Maybe I'll attempt it myself one day.
Plan is to acquire the fork, then have a custom rando frame built around it...
Thank you all for the suggestions.
Winston can build me one with nice steel, but it's £250.
So I'm on the lookout for an OTP steel low trail 650b fork (for canti brakes)
Is there such a fork readily available?
Somafab have a version, that's unfortunately only available in 700c.
@PhilDAS a bit long in the tooth for 650b sadly.
Another tour on the Straggler this month, in the Auvergne region of France.
New lowrider rack fitted ahead of my Bulgaria>Greece trip at the start of Sept.
I'm in Hackney, collection preferred.
Does anyone run a Tubus Tara on the front of their Surly?
I can't get it to fit the dropout eyelets, clear the QR and be level all at once.
Looks like I need one of these spacers...
As above, with the loop.
Collected in London preferably.
This looks great.
They're totally fit for purpose I'd say...having just bought my old one back.
If you want a montercrosser/touring bike then Surly is great - if you are looking for something spritely then look elsewhere. And they never market them otherwise.
Bought my old Straggler frameset back a couple of weeks ago.
All built up and ready to head to France this weekend.
Does anyone have a spare untorn hood for sale?
Thanks for the replies!
Where is this now?
I'm heading off on a bike tour this Friday - and my bike doesn't have a headset fitted.
Does anyone in East London have a headset press I can borrow on Tuesday or Wednesday?
Please, let me know.
This website is great.
Will collect, in London.
Looks like an amazing trip. The bike looks great too!
I've been thinking to get a lowrider front rack, have you ever clipped the bottom of the panniers whilst cornering?
On the outside.
Ordered an LHT set from Amazon.
@mdcc_tester & @Constable_Savage thank you both for the replies.
Do you have any idea where in London I can pick up a LHT drill bit? A google search returns nothing and I'm meant to be riding this bike to France on Friday.
I've just sheared a 5mm bolt in the front fork of my Surly Straggler.
I'm going to Screwfix tomorrow to buy a bolt extractor set, but I'm worried 5mm is too small.
I'm in East London - what's my best course of action?
I'm in East London and can collect asap.
In the end I've damaged my ear, so cant make it.
Looks like a nice day for it though.
Bring it. We can camp if it's not too bad- or bail home.
Or carry a tent in case the rain holds out
