I am selling my blackberry bold as i won an iphone on Capital FM and dont need it anymore. I have used it for about a month and it is in superb quality and everything works as should do. Obviously i have all the shrapnel that comes with such as charger etc. The phone is set to the orange network, i dunno if you can open it up to reach other networks but you would have to do that yourself as i dont know how.
Price - £185
Message me if you want want.

Others might add or disagree... but persevere with Sheldon's 'site. It covers stuff down to the finest detail.
There are some tools you'll probably need to buy/borrow. Your best to find a local bike shop you can go back to easily to pick these up if and when you need them. Tools can be a big expense so don't rush out and purchase all of these in one go:
Chainbreaker – if you buy one, get one that'll do 1/8 and 3/32 chains.
Crankpuller – for removing crank arms.
Sprocket set.
Allen keys.
Lockring spanner – for the lockring on a track hub.
Chain whip – for screwing on/off a cog onto the track hub.
Cable cutters – fitting brake cables / freeing road bikes of cables.
15mm open end spanner – for pedals.
Headset spanner.
Greese.
Locktight.
Teflon lube.
Measuring calipres – for sorting out your chainline.I've left off spoke tool and Bottom Bracket tools... is there anything else obvious.
This is an awesome tool. You can make your own chainwhip with it if you've got some spare chain about.

Thanks miro, i was just being an egg when i said that i didnt wanna converse with you again. Im sure you're a really nice chap and we may have misjudged each other on first count. Thanks for the tips you just gave me, ill look into them for my build.
Also, its gonna sound a bit gay but thanks everyone for being really helpful, you have a real nice thing going on here with this forum. Glad to be welcomed so warmly.

Yeah i picked up a book from the library about bike mechanics so im gonna just sit down and soak all the information into my mind. Ive seen Sheldon Browns website but it looks pretty hard to navigate but im sure ill just trawl through it and then practice on my bike and see the outcomes.
The only thing i am concerned about is the specialist tools which are required like the cone spanner, chain breaker and the tool used to get the lock nut off the bottom bracket thing. How do i get these tools and are they expensive?

Deffo the best way to go. Forgive me if I'm wrong but like loads of newbies – you'll probably ignore this route and get your mum's wallet out.
If you (as you've mentioned) buy wheels, a frame and cranks and cover these with 'shit you bought off eBay 'cus they looked nice and you saw it on MASH' you'll have spent loads and will have a crap bike most likely. But you'll probably think your fast, and that the bike looks 'the bomb'... then post it on fixedgeargallery anyway.
;-)
What a sharp and poisonous comment. Firstly, im buying an old bike from ebay and dismantling it and then restoring all the good parts and then replacing any old parts which are fucked. I dont know what your image of me is like, but i dont ponce off my Mum. In fact, she lives in France and i am in London by myself studying, barely eeking out enough money to survive thus that is why i am buying a bike to cut wasting money of London Transport. I think its quite vindictive of you to assume that i am building a bike purely to look 'cool'. My main issue for making the bike is for it to perfome well and for a long amount of time. I think you are quite rude and i dont want to continue any conversation with you again.

are you willi wonkas mate ?
Yeah, from the original film.
About my old bike, i think that its a little too small although its in good condition. I was thinking about going down to portobello market to check out what they have as thats where i bought it. Does anyone recommend anywhere that i can pick up a second hand racer/road bike in London for a good price?

Yeah, it looks like a really nice frame. The colour is real nice too. Only thing is, thats its a little expensive for what i can afford. It would leave me with £20 to live off for the rest of the month. Maybe i should wait till my loan comes through, but it probably wont be around then.
What is the importance of the rear wheel may i ask?

Hi, im building a bike from scratch. Firstly, to get a cool bike, but secondly to learn about how they work and so forth. However, im needing a little help on a few things to get me started.
I wanted to ask your opinions on what frame i should buy. My situation is that im a student so i dont have a large budget for the frame, probably around £100-£120, however, i do want a good frame which is light enough and without any dinks or problems. Could you point me in the right direction as far as brands are concerned and what to look out for, as ive been on eBay and i cant really tell which is a deal and which is a rip-off.
I wanted to know whether there are any parts of the bike which you would advise spending alot of money on, like the cranks or wheels...
Thanks -- MIKE TV

I have a Raleigh Team Banana that i bought last summer. Would anyone be interested in trading it for a frame of some description as i'm looking to build my own bike. Frame would need to be around 56-58 cm.
It has a flattening back tyre but everything else is in good condition. I don't have any photos at the moment but could put them up next Friday. Let me know if you're interested.

Nah Mongoose pedals isnt really what im going for. More higher quality BMX pedals and medium to lower quality road bike pedals. I dont know any of the fancy technical terms for them but i dont wants clips or straps as they're shite. Just plain old pedals.
