Cremer St
Under the arches on Cremer St (Cut-through between Kingsland/ Hackney Road)
there is a garage/bodyshop that is selling a load of bikes...There is a large Look frame with a Black Brooks B17... and a couple of Peugeot ladies bikes... A few more that I didn't get a good look at...
didn't seem very Kosher.

Probably not gonna make too many friends by posting this but here goes:
Me and a couple of mates were walking through Soho yesterday evening, it was busy as is usual, and we were chatting and strolling down the middle of the road. In other parts of the city this would obviously be wrong but Soho is practically pedestrianised due to the sheer amount of people moving about. A bike messenger came up behind us called us 'wankers' and said 'do you think you're a fucking car?'. He was gone by the time any of us had a chance to unleash a series of what would have undoubtably been world-class witty responses.
I must say, having given it some contemplation, I think the guy was a total prick.
Of course in many ways I sympathise with the chap: long, difficult, arduous days dealing with idiots throwing themselves in front of him must be frustrating. I too have had similar experiences in a life-time of cycling in this city.
But knowing I ride my bike in a place I share with millions of others means a bit of give and take. When I am on my bike I don't go looking for fights, even thought they do, on occasion, find me.
What, on reflection, irritated me the most was his petty fascism. I would like to have replied to him that: No, I do not think I am a car, but neither do I suscribe to your constricted worldview that rules must be abided by at all times!
It seems to me somewhat ironic (and perhaps telling) that a bike messenger would ascertain that to be in the road one must be a car. I like to think that even under a state of violent financial capitalism good people remain flexible enough that we all have room to breathe. I use my bike most days, and am largely filled with happiness by doing so. It offers me the opportunity to pursue less-restricted routes through a city I am still discovering after decades of adventure. It is one of the the few things I enjoy that is actually good for me. I also feel a real sense of camaraderie in the cycling community, which is another reason I put it to you that this geezer was a dickhead.
Moreover, I resent being called a wanker, and having my sanity called into question (I was exhibiting no outward signs to indicate I though of myself as anything other than a human). He spoiled what was otherwise a nice moment, with unnecessary aggression and intolerance.
I know there is nothing particularly special about this event, I just felt the need to vent. And what better place for it.
Fuck him.

If you're based in London you should try the London Bike Kitchen... http://www.lbk.org.uk/
Membership is £10, and then £10 per hour after that...
Instead of paying someone to do it for you, you can pay them to teach you how to do it yourself...
Very nice people there, and you're bound to save money that way... -

I've just removed my Sugino Uno BB from my old, now dead, frame and I was about to stick the same BB into the new frame I'm building up and it won't go because one side of the BB Shell has this cover attached to it.
I haven't encountered this before, do I need a different BB?
Help appreciated...Cheers!

I will offer the £90
