Yes, came into KY yesterday afternoon having had the worst and then best time over the Cheviots. Finished alongside Lizzy (2nd place female) to round out the top ten.
There is a lot to process and I still keep thinking about stuff that happened but I can't remember which leg it was etc. Lack of sleep will do that I guess!

Registration was a lot less involved than I thought it would be, only got kit checked on the red items but they have a good thorough look at everything they do check don't they? Got a little caught out as I hadn't sorted the food I was carrying from the start yet but when I started counting out the vast quantities of bars etc the guy just went ok that's plenty!
Weight wise my packm is similar to Deadwater last year. Much less food, more poo trowel and clothes.

I've just renewed mine and I spotted that the return address includes your application number, so I guess if you put both in the same envelope they will either:
1- (best case) figure it out and all be ok
2- (worst case) one renews and the other renewal fails and the passport is lost making renewal impossible and or long winded and painfulFor the cost of an envelope and stamp I'd just send separately.

Why am I flogging away at what I'm doing when I could live there, with that view (and that workshop)?
I have this conversation with my partner every time we go away. Always comes back to "but remember we're on holiday and all the life crap we aren't dealing with atm still happens here, plus it's a really long way from our parents" We have kids so being able to call in the
cavalrygrandparents occasionally for emergencies is pretty helpful. -
Glad to hear it went well. Did my last long run this morning. Soaked within the first mile from all the wet, overgrown vegetation and stung all up my legs by nettles. Still tingling now.
I tried something a little different and went out with no food and didn't have breakfast. Just water. Could have done with more water tbh but pleased to have good energy levels throughout, walked a lot more than normally would in order to try to emulate Spine pace a little better so it ended up taking longer than planned which means a bit of a rushed afternoon but reassuring to test the endurance. 27 miles all in, finally completed a route I planned months ago but never got around to doing the whole loop so got to explore some new paths too.

You might find it very difficult to get permission to build a dwelling on farm land. They'd want to see evidence that the building was there to support the current use of the land - i.e. if you had a heard of sheep and needed somewhere to sleep during lambing. Otherwise they will just see "residential house" on "farm land"

If I could afford a second home like that I might consider it. Yeah the only concern I have is battery life. Watch will last 24hrs on a full charge, recording GPS position every second so with lower accuracy and carrying a charging block plus some charge at every checkpoint I'm hoping I should be ok.
Not far off now, getting pretty real! -

Cool, we have blue tits in ours and sounds like a healthy brood of hungry chicks. We've spooked them a few times when eating outside as the box is quite close to the table and if you look at them they know a predator is watching so will fly off for a bit until you're not watching. Looking forward to fledglings in the garden / not looking forward to trying to get the kids to leave them alone.

Have you been out on the course much? You have more to recce overall I guess.
(Sorry only just seen this reply)
I don't really have a chance to recce, living in the South it's a long way to go. I've done from Edale over to Snake Pass before and some of the Deadwater course followed the PW, albeit in the other direction. Hoping GPS, maps, and finger posts get me through the north section which I don't know at all. -
It was a great course, great weather and scenery.
I underestimated the course and went out a bit too hard. Did the first 20 miles (4 Mynds) in 3:30, the next 6 miles (incl Mynds 5 and 6) took me 1:15 and those were the two long steep climbs by which time I was pretty tired. Kept moving well and drank loads - 5l or thereabouts throughout the day - and came in 6th.
Felt like managed food and water ok, energy was ok throughout the day but running too hard down the first descents took a toll on my quads which meant I was pretty tired by the end and I am suffering today!
Quite a few runners were just done at the end, sat there looking glazed/in shock and I suspect they were all tired but mostly had got dehydrated. As the day got hotter we moved onto the areas of the Mynd that were sheltered from the wind and there was very little shade.
The final part of the final club was an absolute killer. Up through bracken on an exists-on-map-only path and very steep. A few people said they were on hands and knees to get up.
Only made one minor nav error when my watch got confused as we ran back along a section we'd done previously, but I corrected quickly and didn't lose much time.
Doing it in sections would mean you have the opportunity to see all of it in daylight. I think of the four CPs I slept at, only two sleeps were in darkness hours, and one of those CPs I left in the dark too so did plenty of it by torchlight.
