I could understand a disqualification from today's stage and a fine, but after Barredo was fined just $381 for a fight
it seems very harsh. -

I did my first couple of triathlons last year. I bought a £270 racer from decathlon and it did the trick. I rode without tri-bars and managed to absolutely destroy dozens of people on really slick £1000+ tri bikes. There is no point in having a really expensive tri/tt bike unless you are competing a lot, you are already really fast and are looking to shave off vital seconds/minutes over the 40km bike leg.
This is a good time of year to head over to Decathlon as they will probably be discounting their 2009 stock.

I've signed it and also emailed the editor of the East London Advertiser (Malcolm.starbrook@archant.co.uk) about it.

Hi,
I've been riding SS for about 9 months - firstly on an 80s Apollo conversion and more recently on a nice Harry Quinn that I got on here. I now want to make the switch to fixed; either straight out or with a flip-flop hub. I would look to convert the Harry Quinn but the frame's a little too small for me.
So I'm after a 54cm fixed or flip-flop. I want it in a ready-to-ride state with no work needing to be none. If it's fixed I would like a front brake. I don't really mind how it looks as long as everything is in good order; it's only really for commuting and getting about town on, I won't be doing any great distances on it. I can spend up to about £200.
If anyone has anything PM me or post details, pics, price.
Thanks for your help.

On the day last week that 2 people were involved in accidents with HGVs a policeman handed me a little booklet on how to deal with HGVs. It was for cyclists and HGV drivers but campaigns need to be sustained. Both drivers and cyclists need to be targeted and reminded every time they take to the road - booklets, signs, stickers, spokecards, ghost bikes, shouted abuse... whatever it takes.

How about transparent stickers with bikes on them for the wing-mirrors of lorries? That way every time the lorry driver looks in the mirror he sees a bike. Print them out and get sticking - subtle but possibly effective gorilla activity. With so many cyclists being killed by lorries; something has to be done. Just a thought.

Blackburn are giving away free lights at Canon Street at 5.30pm on Monday.
First come first served, so be quick. Shame I don't finish work until 6pm.
