1969 Bottecchia Giro D'Italia road bike with most of its original components.
Frame in Columbus tubing with Campagnolo front and rear ends.
Lots of chrome as shown in pictures, all in excellent condition.
All the original decals still in place.
Wheels are Fiamme Red label on Campag large flange hubs.
New Veloflex Criterium tubs.
Campag front and rear mechs (Ireplaced the original Record rear with Nuovo Record).
Everything is in excellent condition and this is ready to ride in L'Eroica if you wish!

I bought this bike from Mark and was not even aware it had been on the Forum previously. As to Malrees2 he has in the past bought items from me so this smells rather of double standards... I have to buy stock from somewhere. Its a really beautiful and special bike which I think has now found a new home.

You may well have some other photos, but those with the bike when I sold it are not of Tom, but of Ron Owen. I don't see the 'double standards' but prefer to get the records of the bike straight if you are referring to the photos I provided.

I have removed my last 2 posts in this thread.
I now know that the buyer did not buy this bike intending to sell it.
He exchanged the bike for a Hetchins which Hilary was selling, and no money was involved in the swap.

Bike now sold, to the first person who enquired, only a few minutes before metrocammell.
I think I had to sell to the first who contacted me with the asking price and hope that hasn't upset anyone on here. I will make a donation to the site of course, in thanks for such a great response to a unique machine. The owner is amazed that it sold so quickly for the full price, just showing what a great group are on here.

In 1958, this frame was specially built for Tommy Crowther, owner of Mercian Cycles, Derby. A year later it was purchased by its present owner, who was a well-known time-trialist and is now unable to cycle due to illness.
He has asked me to sell this complete machine, which is one of the finest road-path frames I have encountered. The details are as follows:
22 1/2 seat tube and top tube
Reynolds 531 with very finely hand-cut lugs, which were specially made for this frame only.
Wheels are Mavic 32/40's on large flange Campag track hubs, currently with 22 sprocket .
Steel GB Titan Maes stem and GB aluminium bars 16" OS/OS. GB front brake.
Brooks Pro saddle with the rare simple badge embossed on Campag 2 bolt seatpin
TA 51 chainring on Stronglight Dural Forge cranks
Bluemels Club Special mudguards. The bike is ready to ride away.
