Milk goes into china cups first but only when using a teapot to brew the tea first.
If you put the milk into a cup first then tea bag/leaves and then hot water, then your watery milky mess won't be hot enough to extract the tea flavour, at least for black tea.Why do some people put the milk in before removing the tea bag? Makes no sense to me.

Shredder is spot on here. You tighten a bolt to a certain level to avoid it coming undone or to create a clamping force. What you are actually trying to achieve is a certain level of bolt elongation. Torque is the most easily measurable indicator of this but it isn't very accurate. It can be effected by simple factors such as lubrication, material or surface finish of the fasteners. So the torque wrench can measure torque very accurately but not bolt tension.
However doing it by feel is susceptible to the same factors.Using a torque wrench can really help when you're not sure just how tight something should be.

I'm posting on behalf of a friend who had their mint green condor pista nicked last night from Kingsland road. Will pop to the market tomorrow of course but if anyone sees it please get in touch, any info that results in the safe return of the bicycle will be rewarded. I'll try to post up some more details and a pic of the bike.
Cheers -
It hurts but I've found hanging my head in shame (like when your Dad says: he's not angry, just disappointed) really helps. Gives them the feeling of power without giving me a ticket.
Trying to argue at least allows you to feel you stood up against sometimes unfairly or incorrectly applied laws but I'm yet to here of anyone who swayed a PC's adjudication of the events. -

Unfortunately in the case of a fixed penalty notice the officer is judge and jury, so to have "a bad day at the office" isn't really on. Yes, running a red is against the law and perhaps it would be wise to take it on the chin, however it is the officers choice to apply the law with discretion, so the "just doing his job" line is bullsh1t, more like just doing his job badly.
I also agree that to point at cases where other road users avoid punishment for minor misdemeanors is petty and no defense. I just wish the police acted in a way that demonstrated an understanding of the laws they are applying and thought about when the principal of the law is applicable.well that's what I thought after a cso stole 30 quid from me for riding on a quiet pavement at 3 mph for about 5 meters.
