I reckon build your own. I had a bianchi pista that got somewhat buggered in an accident and so decided to build me own. I managed to get an old raleigh frame (nothing special) from some bike shop in dalston to have a go on and within no time got a basic fixed gear bike going with bits and bob off ebay. I think i paid a grand total of about £60 (£30 for bike, £5 for new stem, £20 wheels, £5 cog) converting it. I'm now on the look out for a decent frame to build up one properly and i think. if you want a bike asap then it might take a while finding a frame that totally right for you and then doing it up so an off teh shelf jobby is probably a good bet.

it's for the standard bianchi. i've realised that most integrated stuff is 1 1/8" - very annoying hence this post. so yeah, it is threadless but it looks like head tube is too wide at the top and botom to fit the threadless headsets that i;ve seen - looks like its's be design for an integrated headset. or am i wrong with this assumption and it's possible to change the type of headset for the frame.
deja vous... slightly - kind of getting myself confused about the whole thing... sorry...

There's a place on the old kent road (near hertz car rental) that specialise in chroming things up. don;t know how much they charge as they're funny about giving quote (even rough estimates) unless they have the item in front of them. i guess it depends on all sorts and they don;t want to be misleading.

I've seen a wicked vintage reynolds 531 frame for sale which is in excellent condition apart from two 2mm dints with surface rust and a slight bend of about 3/4mm on the top tube. I suspect that it's not really possible to bash out the dents but it is possible to straighten the top tube? if so, how would you go about doing that and is it expensive?
thanks for any advice

Some stupid woman ran me over recently and buggered my fork and wheel. I quite like the look of threaded stems so was thinking of wacking them on the bike.
I know the pista comes with an integrated headset and so this may sound like a stupid question (I apologise if it is) but is the head tube on the pista frame compatible with threaded forks/stems/headset? I guess it ultimately comes down to the headset so, specifically I was wondering if there is any threaded headsets that are compatible head tubes that originally had integrated headsets or am I stuck with what I’ve got?
Cheers!

I've got a silver frame and am thinking about what colour i should go for the seat, bar tape, top tube cover etc...
I'm thinking of going for a brown or honey coloured Brooks bits but seeds of doubt have been planted in my head by my brother as to how well they would go with silver.
what do people think?
opinions would be very welcome
thanks!

well.... i got a threaded fork and headset thinking it would be a simple case of replaceing everything but nothing seemed to fit. the errors of my way and misconceptions have been resolved swiftly by a friend of mine who i didn;t realise worked in a bike shop for over 4 years. i hadn't realised that the bearing cups were not part of the frame (i thought it was integrated because they fitted so well and were coloured exactly). anyway, we've bashed them out and fitted everything so it's all sorted. fuck me, i learnt alot from the butt monkey in such a short period of time (funny how some things seem so obvious when it's pointed out to you). i'll try and bother him first before hasseling you fine people in future.
thank you all for taking the time and patience to give me advice (on multiple occations) over this!!
