I've tried with other 25.4 seatpost but it doesn't fit at all even with the slot opened up with screwdriver when the slot lines is parallel, maybe it's like 24. something or 25mm size? I've ordered the 24mm seatpost for Peugeots when I didn't check if the frame is pinching down, because the original one that came with the bike was also 24mm. All information that I readed online about Peugeot size from 80's low tier bikes is 24mm. I need to find some 25mm post and try with it maybe.

Hey, I've got a problem with seatpost slot pinching at the top when I'm tighten the binder bolt. I think measurement of the seatpost is good (24mm Peugeot size), because I've checked inner size of the tube, it goes in nicely and I think bigger size won't fit because it's already a tight fit with little bit of play, but when I tighten it down, the seatpost slot pinching at the top, so when I want to change the height of the seatpost I need to open it up with the screwdriver what is frustrating, because without it the seatpost won't move at all or be scratched a lot from the frame. I've tried with carbon paste, shim made from can but it's too tight to go in with a shim. I don't have any more ideas what to do with it. Some guy told me that I need to cut down the seatpost slot few mm down, but I don't know if it is a safe idea.

Hey, so I've finally finishing my Peugeot build with modern components, but another problem appeared. The rear wheel sliding to the left side under a pedaling pressure. I've got horizontal dropouts and using the QR that came with new wheels. Also I'm just squeezing the wheel in because I've got 124-125mm rear dropouts and 130mm wheel. What can be a problem there? There is not enough bite on the modern QR? I've also got the old QR from previous 6 speed wheelset. maybe I could try with them.

The bolt and penny trick doesn't work for me, the bolt can't be screwed with something between, but I tried to expand the the diameter with small wrench, but it only get a little bit further and stuck again. I don't know how much pressure I can put on the stem opening, also I don't want to damage the stem.

Hey guys, I've got a project with my 1986 Peugeot PHE20. I've watched all of those nice steel frame road bike with modern components on this forum, so I thought why not do it with my bike. But the more I learn about all of this stuff, the more problems comes by. I've also watched and read all of the cold setting stuff, but are here anyone that didn't cold set your frame and just put the wheels with a little bit of force? I've bought already Shimano Claris groupset and new wheels, I tried to put the wheels in and they squeezed it with some force. But my question is if that's a safe method to use, or I need to cold set my frame? Also I've got some problems because sometimes the wheel sitting straight in the rear fork, but sometimes it's a little bit off the one side. I'm thinking it's because of what side I stretch the frame while putting the wheel. That Peugeot got a lot of weird dimentions like 24mm seat post, 124mm rear fork and 96mm front fork even the original groupset was 6 speed.
Little update, I've tried to fit the 25mm seatpost from other bike, no luck with that even after opening up the slot with screwdriver. Still the both of 24mm seatpost just having a gap around the tube. I think there is no different seatpost size between 24 and 25mm?
