Had this frame made by Shand Cycles for my 40th present. With a bit of lurking/advice off here and other forums I collected the rest of the build myself...
Pista chainset 48t
White Industries 19t freewheel
Phil Wood Bottom Bracket
Phil Wood hubs on H Plus Son TB14 rims
Campag Record calipers
Unindentified ebay Campag Levers
Ritchey finishing kit
Brooks B17/Tape and large Challenge bagFew observations - Brooks tape is dear for the amount of tape you actually get and unsuited to my large hands, I'm cramping up after 20mins. As for the gearing I chose 49x19 to allow me to negotiate Edinburgh's many hills but it's a wee bit spinny on the flat, this might need to change. Not happy with the brake cables. Anyway, this when my treasure is destroyed by people I've never met...
PS - anyone got any suggestions for pedals? Got mtb spuds on there temporarily...

They also do a plain looking / non-lugged ahead that's similar to the OS ones. But they're pretty hard to find. My point was that would be an ideal match (assuming the finish does actually match ;)
Personally I would say the shape of the bars should be your main consideration. Especially as you can always strip black bars.
Ah I get your meaning now...

Why don’t you just use a 26.0mm Thomson?
Because I can't find one mainly...Sounds weird but I really wanted Cinelli bars(no real reason except they're shiny and silver - v.important), always had Thomson on my MTBs and being unable to fit quill stem precluded use of a Cinelli/Nitto...Oh and those Nitto lugged stems are grim. The ideal I guess would be to find one of those Nitto aheads in 26.0mm.
Why would you say they are grim in one sentence, then say it's the ideal the next? -

*likely to invoke a righteous flaming for me, probably
In the mountain bike world I normally inhabit, finishing kit is important. But it's not THAT important to use the same brand for stem, seatpost and bars...etc
I'm currently speccing up a nice(IMO) bike...with silver/chrome bits...This is a one off treat to myself for my 40th and I'd like to use some parts that I consider beautiful as well as functional...
To this end I originally wanted to include a Thomson stem(with shim), Cinelli Giro bars and a Nitto S84 post....Using bits from different manufctureres I who I consider top of their games. But would this look a) a bit mismatched b) like I was trying too hard c) ATGNI-ish? d) completely shit?
Or should a discerning chap ALWAYS match as far as poss? i.e Thomson Stem and Post? Would love to match the Nitto post with their sweet lugged stem but cannot find a UK stockist...and prices from US/Japan sites plus postage/customs charges are making it ridic...
Any slagging/advice welcomed enthusiastically.

I've tried searching but can't find my answer so forgive me if this is tired ground...I'm new to Fixed/Singlespeed from MTB and collecting the bits for my first build after my nice OTP was stolen back in June....
Anyway, after deliberating for ages over chainset choice, I went on eBay whilst drunk(twat) and pressed the button on a Campag Record Pista crankset...Now I'm unsure of vintage but its the one with the fluted arms and winged logo etched/engraved on there too. It'll be running alongside a Phil Wood flip flop rear hub....so what length spindle am I after if the frame is 68mm BB shell?
Remember I'm new to all this so don't be too harsh! I know the old Campy's crack and fail but it look's pretty in all likelihood this build wont be a daily mile muncher. More of a present to myself after a) deciding I couldn't quite swing for Dura-Ace b) not liking the look of the new/current Campy Pista cranks...

Hey hey, not in London, but every search I do on SS bits directed me this way so figured I should sign up. Had a tidy SS stolen in June, so as a treat for my 40th I've just ordered a frame from Shand Cycles here in Scotland, being built in November. Excited? Obsessed would be closer...trying to hang as many shiny shiny bits on there as possible, so getting as much info/opinions as I can from this brilliant wealth of knowledge. I'm actually a Mtb'er so need all the pointers I can get! Anyway thanks for the help I've gained lurking so far, might even dare to post a question now...
