De Struise don't miss on the hardcore imperial stouts, but other sources of strong gear are Alesmith Speedway Stout (more difficult to find in the UK lately) and Old Chimneys Good King Henry. Get it while you can as well: The Kernel's Imperial Brown Stout.

Another vote for Cross Keys. You can smell the khazis in the Lamb and Flag from across the street.

If you like Belgian beer Lowlander is worth consideration.

Basically next door to the Harp is the Marquis. I understand quite the venue for live mod tribute acts.

We have acer palmatum Ryusen in a ‘weeping’ style. Very pretty, quite small, leaves and lovely autumnal colours.

One thing to beware with acers is wind. They get scorched by windy conditions (leaves curl up and go crispy), so always good to have them protected.

Try the Lyric on Great Windmill Street. Tom Cribb ain't the worse place in the world either and is very close.

Culture is interesting but very worthy fine dining.
Verdant fish bar is tasty but small and gets incredibly busy

Star and Garter was a pub trying very hard to be more
Seaview Inn will supposedly do a pint of Bass and is a local’s choice drinking place
Pizza (and beer) at Verdant tap room in Penryn is good. Perfectly walkable from Falmouth
Good Vibes cafe did a good breakfast
A hidden gem is Provedore. Was doing breakfast/lunch but now seems to be evening small plates. The cooking was excellent.

Stormbird and Hermits in Camberwell. The real ale and the craft beer on opposite sides of the road.

If you wanna do the full real ale experience, The Hope in Carshalton is probably the best in London. At least CAMRA think so. Depending on when your mate is arriving there’s often a beer festival on there.

The Old Red Cow makes me so sad. It’s horrible now when it used to be brilliant.

Second on the Old Fountain. Or try the Hand and Shears just one street further back from the Old Red Cow. It had cask Bass on a few weeks back.

Gazzo (pizza). Steel Vintage Bikes Cafe. Konnopke's Imbiss (currywurst, some say the originators). BRLO Brwhouse (Food is vegetarian led with meat optional. Beer is decent). If you like beer then Beirerei (say hi to Cihan) and the Muted Horn are excellent.

Moeder Lambic Fontainas is walkable (20mins tops) and brilliant. As is GIST. Brasserie Surrealiste is fab but further.

Cantillon also now has a neighbour, Brasserie de l’Ermitage. More modern craft styles.

And DJ's get given the complicated cases! Any half awake bench of magistrates would know at that speed its 6 penalty points rather than the five given. And as for three points and £65, that's just absolute nonsense.

Always looked amazing to me and sells out really quickly. The Cantonese BBQ chef/teacher is amazing.

I don't think it classifies as a truly cheap eat (about £11+ for a portion), but Hiden in Coal Drops Yard. Independently owned and really tasty Japanese curry rice.
