I have been riding a Langster for nearly 2 years. I change the chain every 1000ish miles. I changed the fixed cog about 500 miles ago. 2 weeks ago, I felt a clonk on the chain/bb area but thought it was just a stone thrown up from one of the other riders hitting the bb shell. Later on, the chain snapped. I think it mounted the chainwheel and just snapped. I can't understand why as I've never had it before. I do have real problems getting tension as it's tight at 1 point and loose at others. Do you think it was a loose spot? What do you do about tight and loose spots? How loose is too loose?
Thanks Malaysian. I get it. The crank/bb may not be exactly in the middle of the chainring so I can nudge the chainring a bit. I'll give it a go at weekend - it sounds like it needs a lot of time and patience.
