Hi there,
I have a spare D lock which is an Oxford Magnum, however I only have one key for it. My understanding is that the manufacturers don't supply spares and the blanks are impossible to get hold of, but has anybody had any luck or have any other ideas? It's actually quite a good lock and would be a good second lock to leave at work if I had a spare key.

Was blogged about here I do believe

^ to be fair benjam i think there are already quite a lot of threads covering your suggestions already. Albeit maybe not as specific as you're suggesting.
S/
I think benjam was referring to the issues regarding specific roads or gyratory systems that are hazardous (eg Vauxhall Cross, Aldwych, E & C) and therefore need engineering solutions to alter them, rather than general HGV danger.

Maybe he's thinking of the French - they certainly have some interesting cycle lanes. And their Velib system keeps having bikes nicked unlike our Barcycles / Boris / Ken bikes.
Could it be the Dutch with their huge bicycle trailers, forcing me to hop over a strip of grass onto the opposite carriageway to overtake on a dual carriageway cycle track? (It was here) Or maybe it was those Germans and their dastardly road works, forcing me out of the cycle lane and onto a road lane that was made a temporary cycle lane by using a steel barrier to keep cars out?

@Object, chameleon - I think cycle infrastructure should be on a heirachial basis depending on the nature of the road it is along (considering width, traffic volume, and traffic speed) - so separated lanes along Euston Road would be a good idea, but a contra-flow would suffice along Old Compton Street.
-
...the main thrust of their cycling plan appears to be the development of a network of cycle lanes. I'm not sure how you all feel about that, but I know opinion is divided as to whether segregation of traffic is necessary or indeed beneficial.
Well, it would be lovely if we could have lots of 2 metre wide mandatory cycle lanes and contraflows and separate cycle phases at major junctions and all that jazz, but this is London and not Denmark, so what they mean by "cycle lane" is a network of 2 foot wide parking bays and gutters. And the latter is what usually happens.

Brake need to fuck the fuck off.
Wow, motorists and cyclists detest them. That's some achievement!
See this tweet from @markbikeslondon
I've just found a kid's colouring in sheet on their www called 'roads are for drivers, pavements are for people' Owwwwww.
Erm - roads are for horses and* bicycles *and *motorcycles *and rickshaws and so on as well as the drivers who have been trying to achieve road domination!

Boris bike scheme urged to include helmets after two riders injured here we go....
A few pedestrians were probably injured today in London. This would lead to calls for pedestrian helmets, but for some reason people don't want to wear them and would feel silly asking others to do so.

20 mph limit across all London would suck.
I'm not the fastest cyclists out there by any means and exceed 20mph most days. Or do the fans of this not think it would/should include bikes? I also drive, most often at quiet times, and to be limited to 20mph on largely empty, wide streets would be a complete boring pain in the arse and help no-one.
It's really worrying that according to that one survey only 3% of people dont's think cycling is dangerous. More should be done to highlight that it is safe.Well, how about 30mph on A roads and 20mph elsewhere or something? IIRC speed limits do not apply to bicycles.

What I know is, London's streets are so narrow that they have taxi ranks in the middle of the road because there's nowhere else to put them. And the traffic is so bad, it's extra important to have three traffic lanes in each direction. If you reduced it to two in each direction + cycle paths, how are drivers supposed to cut across two lanes of traffic to turn off?
Of course there are going to be places where you can't fit a superhighway, but the Smurfway infrastructure is a joke, especially where it's a painted stripe in a normal traffic lane. What's so super about the E&C bypass and leaving the roundabouts as they are?

Yes, it's that style of key [although the pictured Kryptonite keys actually have codes for replacements on them].
It's frustrating because there's clearly a market for them
