Have spent most of the afternoon working my way through this thread while working and would like to say thanks very much for all the advice!

Apologies if I missed it, but has anybody bought one of the Xena alarmed locks, and if so can they post a review? I am very tempted but am concerned about:

1. Does the lack of a rubber coating (I assume it doesnt have one judging by the pictures) make it susceptible to the attacks alluded to by Ed earlier in the thread/make it scratch the paint work?

2. Generally does it work well (eg does it feel like it is good quality/is the alarm good?)

Depending on how big the rotor is and how powerful the set up is wouldnt there be an issue with putting too much stress into the fork especially if it is carbon.

Not sure if this is scientifically correct but as the disk brake is applying the force much further down the fork there is a lot more leverage being exerted on it compared to a rim brake which is positioned much closer to the headset etc?

I got the standard drops on mine as there are more hand positions and much better in traffic

I bought a Touche a month or two ago and am really happy with it so far. Would recommend upgrading the chain and tyres (£8 and £20 for the pair extra) as the stock stuff isn't great but other than that they are a great bike!
The stock gearing (48/18) is perfect in London and has taken me to Brighton and done loads of laps of Richmond Park so should be about right in Manchester as long as you aren't on too hilly a commute.
