you should use loctite on the fixed cup of your bottom bracket, especially if it's an adjustable one. this stops any possibility of the fixed cup moving and ruining your precision bearing adjustment. it's also not a bad idea for cartridge units. i'm sure heaps of people are gonna disagree with this, saying it makes it too hard to remove the bb, but it prevents mystery clicks and premature bearing wear.
definitely use grease on the adjustable cup, and on all sprocket and lockring and hub thread surfaces. just a small amount of any grease you like. i use marine grease for boats and boattrailers because it's sticky and lasts well. lithium grease can be prone to washout but hell it works fine. boating grease tends to be heaps cheaper.
