Not having access to any 650b wheels and tyres I tried to take some measurements using the only known sized wheel I had hanging around, a 26" MTB wheel. So I know that a 25mm wide rim will fit in there but I need to do the maths to see if a 650b with 40mm rubber will go....
This has the potential to be the shortest current project ever and the most futile, so apologies if it ends up not going anywhere...40mm at the brake bridge...

The clearances in the fork and chain stays are pretty tight so getting bigger rubber in 700c is pretty much out of the question. The Mrs. has a Dutch bike with 700c x 40c tyres which would be ideal, but I pulled the front one from her bike and tried it in the cougar and there's no chance! My first bike was in the 70s and it had 27 x 1 ΒΌ wheels and was plenty comfy so I'd like to achieve something sorta like that. Which leads me to 650b.....

I've been tripping over this Dolan built Cougar road bike in my shed for about ten years. My skinny tyre days are long past and the state of the roads around here only fuels my determination to get some fatter rubber on this thing. It's got a lot of sentimental value so I'd like to do "something" with it.
Plus, its lightweight, very light and made of some type of Columbus steel tubing with the top and down tubes in a Teardrop profile with the rest in round section. I did put tyres on it about 4 years ago but the harsh ride kinda put me off. And I was going to fit the deltas and maybe go for a Gucci retro build but it has wacky braze ons on the head tube so that's a no go.... -

Hi,
My Mrs roped me into fixing her friends bike for her, anyway to cut a long story short I had to swap one of my wheels for hers due to a borked freehub.
So whilst she rides free like a bird I'm left to find parts for this thing. I've seen this logo before but I can't remember what breed it is. Hub is a sealed bearing thing with 6 bolt disc fitting so it must be reasonably new ( for me that means the last 25 years!) And any idea what to ask for and where to find one? Thanks !
At work at the moment but as you can see from the photographs there isnt a lot of room, either at the fork or the rear end.
I'll do accurate measurements when I get home.
