a lot of my friends that have grown up here (i didn't though) are all moving up to Leeds. I'd never thought I'd see the day when my mate billy moved out, because he loves it here and wouldnt hear a bad word about london. But up there his pay is essentially the same for what he does, but is rent is a QUARTER! He has a massive front and back garden, 15 min cycle from work etc etc etc.

not me, but my work colleague was called a faggot and then had a hot coffee thrown in his face by a black cabbie on that massive roundabout by Hyde Park Corner this morning.
Apparently was 5 mins after they had an argument after my mate slowed down when approaching the a red light rather than gunning it to it and having to slam brakes on.

I managed to catch the green wave all the way from peckham, over the vauxhall bridge, with a small wait to cross into pimlico. I got green lights pretty much all the way from there into work at south ken.
No rain but LOADS of traffic though. Basically a wall of buses and lorries from Camberwell to Oval but still managed ok.
Days like that make you love the cycle! -

Hopefully this isn't opening a can of worms...but how customary is it for black cabs to never indicate ever? This morning I counted at least 6 cabs that I was following swerve off last minute causing me to have to slam on the brakes...Also emergency stops for customer pick ups was a favorite this morning.

I need to replace my old brake blocks on some Weinmann 500s. Basically they are terrible at stopping and a near miss has motivated me to search out better ones. At the moment it's those old metal/rubber square things with a threaded bar and nut. The rims are definitely not steel, probably aluminum if I'm not mistaken...
Any tips?
