Anyone else see the load of road workers near Elephant and Castle gleefully telling cyclists to dismount on the small patch of shared pavement between Brandon St and Rodney Road this morning at about 0830? Clearly no reason for the dismount signs at all and totally pathetic seeing them pointlessly try to enforce it.

Peugeot Carbolite 103 frame + forks + bars + bb etc £40:
Seatpost: 56cm ctc
Top tube: 56cm ctc
Front dropout: 110mm
Rear dropout: ~125mm
Tektro long reach brake calipers included
BB: Tange square taper (non driveside crankarm stuck on but just needs some brute force to remove)
Headset: unknown as I've not taken it apart
Bars: Unknown
Levers: WLB(?)
Rear derailleur: simplexThere are various chips in the paint work but otherwise serviceable. Front derailleur is missing but I have the lever without the nut to fix it to the braze on.
At some point someone drilled the fork and rear brake holder (not sure what it's called) to accept the larger diameter allen key nut for the tektros. Seems fine though.Next up is a crankset with 52/42 rings and bolts. I think they may be Stronglight as they are 122BCD. I had the intention of Putting on the above frame but never got around to it. I am no expert on the condition but look ok. (see pics) £15
Weimann 500 front and rear brake calipers nutted fitting £10
Freecycle/Forum Donation
Pair of brake levers with suicide levers
Vintage Raleigh Crankarm dustcaps
Huret front, rear mechs w/ tube mount levers
Tange square taper BB with bearings and cupsI am based in Peckham and would prefer local pick up, or can drop around Smithfield Market area next week. Please let me know if my prices are off or need more details!

Nice collection you guys have there @edmundro and lovely color Karrimor pannier set! Are those regular Ortlieb backroller panniers on that Troll?
Currently, I am making a spread sheet to see if I can buy all of the parts and build the Troll myself for less than the stock price of £1.8k...Probably won't be able to but I fancy a challenge and have most of the tools/stand for the job now. -

Thanks for the info on the LHT, Ogre and Troll. It's great to hear that BC have a good reputation; to be honest you can tell that walking through the door and talking to them! A lot of cool bikes and knowledge.
I am thinking of buying the Troll frame set now as next years color is gross as fuck and then saving to get it built up at BC. Currently I am looking at what I can sell to speed this process up haha. -

@Aroogah I went to Brixton cycles and have decided that a Troll is the one I'm after. I liked the LHT but the Troll seemed to have more versatility as an 'all rounder' for what I want. I better get saving though! Thanks for the heads up.

Aspiring Surly bike owner here. I'm looking for something which I can load up and take on some mixed on and off road camping tours; probably only what the uk and maybe Europe can offer because life and all that; and I probably not anything too technical like down a mountain side. Will definitely be using rear panniers (as I already have a pair) so will need to be able to accommodate a rack.
Being fully aware that this is a very broad description, I've had a look at possibly the LHT/disc trucker as this seems to have really good reviews and ticks a lot of boxes. I've seen a lot about the Troll too, seemingly a more 'off road' bike? What are your thoughts? Also are there any stockists in london were I can try these out? Cheers.

Doing a law conversion course ATM. The Alliston case with a lot of obvious hatred of cyclists is used in a lot of examples. This gets a lot of nods and people saying words to the effect of "fucking cyclists" and anecdotal quotes of personal wrongdoings to them by cyclists. Looks great for this batch of legal 'professionals'.

I was following a postie down Portland St towards burgess park end. There are some temp traffic lights half way down which went red just as he passed through ahead of me. So I cursed my luck and slowed down for the inevitable 5 minute wait you get with those shit temp lights. Five seconds after it goes red, it jumps to green so I cruise on through feeling well smug. The postie obviously has noticed this in his rear view mirror and does a three point turn to confront me/tell me off for RLJing (rightfully so). He was a man who'd seen red so we initially start shouting at each other, until I convince him I'm telling the truth with "why would I give a shit what you thought if I had broken the law to argue with you if I had jumped the light?" Immediately he smiles/apologises and explains he sees RLJing all day and this was the 'straw that broke the camels back' so to speak so we part laughing etc. I don't think I've ever convinced a driver like that and end up laughing about it, shame taxi drivers don't back down when proven wrong...

Looked like a bit of a pile up/crash on the cycle highway just past southwark station this morning about 0820. Cyclist down clearly in agony clutching knee/leg on the zebra crossing and a few other cyclists/peds attending her. Hope she's alright. Even with the person lying across half of the cycle lane there were still loads of other cyclists not giving a flying fuck and wanting to gun it past and getting in a huff about having to slow down at that crossing. I even heard someone say "cant you sit on the pavement?"

Yea I do this as well. I literally stare at them if I can, not because I'm challenging them, but because I want them to see me and remind them I'm a person too.
