Still admiring the people holding waterloo bridge - can't it just be pedestrianised forever? Also I had some good conversations with people handing out flyers; not just the usual stuff like "bring daaan the govment" but actual focused conversation on realtively modest and actionable points. @adroit is right - there are a few of the glasonbury types which are of course more visable but a couple I spoke to were doctor/lawyer types on their day off. Loads of "normies" taking holiday time off to be there with their kids and grandkids standing up for something they believe to be very important.

Waterloo bridge is temporarily closed due to the protest at the moment and it illustrates us how glorious and calm it would be if it was permanently pedestrianised. Peds walking in the middle of the road and cyclists meandering over looking at the scenery and impressive mini ramp that has been constructed on it; it's thouroughly enjoyable. But of course there are still so many wankers expecting to be able to blast it over the bridge and beat that strava record or get to their office 20 seconds earlier. The amount of near misses I saw and people on bikes having the attitude "you're in the road get out of my way" sort of thing was such a shame. On the whole tho shared spaces like that would be so good for london.

took the bike I keep at waterloo home to give it a service and touch up, and hence left the bike at the other end in our small village station carpark overnight. Got there this morning and have had my front wheel stolen ffs. Would like to get a wheel similar but have no idea what "mavic ambrosio elites" are... any ideas?

thanks for all the advice. I thought it would be different to london in that there probably isn't the same volume of cyclists on the roads.
@Silly_Savage - We are moving to Canton area and I'm gonna be working by queen st station and hopefully cycling in. So I'm assuming Cowbridge road? We also looked at a house right opposite that bike track in Maindy! I'm gonna be getting back about 3.5 hours per day from not commuting on the train to london so maybe a club could be good to try out!
@Mr_Sworld - I am very much looking forward to Tiny Rebel beers! -

Moving to Cardiff to start new job in couple of months. This is after a year of commuting to london from Aldershot way and previously six years living in peckham. Can't hack the >1.5 hour commute to london and wanna live near to work so I'm not a zombie all the time. Plus london is unaffordable for me and my partner now. What's it like cycling in the Cardiff?

According to one of the meaters at work, a sausage legally has to have a certain amount of dead animal in it to be called a sausage. Otherwise it has to be called a banger... not sure if it's true but if so I can see the argument there. Sort of. But it's still borne out of people's unwillingness to accept that their indulgences in meat is purely a preference and therefore banning/reducing the visability of alternatives makes them feel less bad and insulates them from their consciences.

This is the most pathetic thing and clearly the work of the meat industry/insecure meet-free sceptics. Someone at work was bleating on in glib delight about this article when I was putting my lunch into the fridge this morning. "I accidently bought some shroom dogs from sainsbury's the other day and had to throw them out - it ruined my sunday dinner"
me: "did you at least try them if not that's a ridiculous waste?"
them: "fuck no, disgusting rubbish shouldn't be in the same shop as real meat or allowed to be called sausages".
Me: "they are called shroom dogs, not sausages - you clearly didn't look properly"
them: "they look too real and shouldn't be in the same aisle/shop. Why do you want anthing like meat in the first place" -
