Well that was fun: out in the sticks cycling at 645 this morning on about 3 inches of fresh, untouched snow up to the train station on 25mm gatorskins! Surprisingly grippy to be honest! Not too cold either. Would have preferred a snow day but ironically the trains were running better that they have all month.

Yea it got done up about three years ago I think, not been the same since. It was brilliant before that, and the manager and her husband were awesome. Free roast potatoes and fish finger sandwiches on the bar on a sunday for all the punters watching the footy and the locals were always up for a chat etc. Oh and it was £2.80 for a pint of sports lager too. I loved it!
@JurekB That pub is crazy expensive. They tried charging me £6.50 for a pint of average mainstream 'craft' beer in there!

On the waterloo roundabout last night I was hit by someone in a merc. I was coming across their right, and therefore he should have given way, except they did that thing that happens all the time on that roundabout which is to slowly edge out and expect cyclists to move into the other lane (I normally do but there was a bus steaming around at full pelt and I wasn't about to get in front of that). I slammed the breaks on and ended up stopped in front of them while they proceeded to keep edging out and then slowly crunch my back wheel - I don't even think it noticed me at all which is worrying. No harm to me or anything, and at the time I thought, none to my bike. I was more bemused than angry so said to the driver that they should give way to the right etc etc. But as I got to waterloo station I realised my back wheel was very fucked to the point it needs replacing. Stupidly I didn't get any details or anything...anything I can do? Or just take it as a learning experience?

Sat at a red light in RH turning lane when a black cab blasts through the red light and turns left making loads of other cars have to emergency brake. Shook my head at and gesticulated/pointed the absolute fuckery and another cabbie behind me called me out "you lot do that all the time". Funny thing was a car who was now in the LH turning lane said the same to the cabbie hahaha. Full bore gammon rage directed at the car driver about road tax/fuck cyclists ensued - in front of some very shocked looking passengers he'd seemingly forgotten were there.

Saw the aftermath of an incident on Waterloo Odean Roundabout this morning (the southside of waterloo bridge): red london bus with it's whole front screen totally smashed/cracked and a pool of blood next to a rucksack and a cycle helmet. No sign of the person/bike - just police managing the traffic. Hoping that whoever is involved is ok...

Also other cyclists moving from the thin cycle lane on Waterloo Bridge into the bus lane without shoulder checking is madness; actually the lack of shoulder checking in general is nuts.
