So, I had a 58cm Day One a few months back which I'd built up and sold on to buy a Dolan Pre-Cursa. Was a completely solid bike, totally bombproof to ride and was stupidly simple but very effective.

Fast forward a few months, my best friend's 26er Cannondale ssmtb commuter got some abuse from me over winter (he doesn't ride in winter, and I needed a bike to get around on with big tyres) and I have a spare 8spd freehub wheelset left over from a 10 speed upgrade on my CAAD2.
I'd then bought some Pasela Tour Guards in 36c flavour, with the intention to run them on a cheap conversion (with the dropouts swapped) i'd picked up a while back.

After looking at my friends bike, and realising that the upgrade to 1x8 would be extremely ineffective for making the gearing more usable, I decided to lookout for a SSCX frame for him on here- originally thinking of a Pompino. @nyoro dropped me a message on here with a 56cm Day One which was perfect.

And this is where we stand currently, I'm going to swap over the majority of the components from the SSMTB, upgrading the brakes to Avid SD3's with FR5 levers. Should be a solid bike for him that i'll never really need to do much maintenance on either.
