Well, I am asking for bathroom quotes. Difficult when I don't know what I actually want doing - to my surprise, it turns out I have no passion for bathroom fittings or layouts.
How to make the most of a 2.3m x 2.3m bathroom? Do I cram in a small bath and shower? Leaning towards big bath with big showerhead over it. Do I mess with the layout? I know it'll be cheaper to keep it as is, but feels like the space is not being used effectively. It's too small to put in a separate shower, but too big for just a bath, toilet and sink, so there are weird gaps.
The current layout is per the image, except irl the weird built-in cupboard is where the radiator is.

Well, the one minute B+Q video on the topic does make it look easy. But certain elements remain deeply mysterious (e.g. how to attach to the existing portion of wall?? Do I need to remove and replace that also?)
Do I need a builder? A handyman? Contemplating getting someone in to do the whole bathroom and bundling this in with that.

My partner went from academia and teaching at a university to doing a PGCE. He now teaches at a sixth form college and loves it. I think @ChasnotRobert covered everything - looooong days, lots of out of hours work, big classes, twatty managers. Extremely crap pay. All worth it because the kids are brilliant, apparently.

Thank you! I have a 3 month notice period and after that the plan is to go on a month long cycle tour. Hopefully inspiration will strike at some point. I am looking at jobs, but at the moment they all seem very dull and meaningless. I'd love to retrain as a nurse, but even a two year masters is not financially feasible for me, and I'm not currently employed as a healthcare worker so not eligible for an apprenticeship. Alas.
Eta: Congratulations on your new job - I hope it turns out to be everything you hoped!

It's somehow been six months since we moved in and in that time we have:
- Ripped up the carpets
- Had whole house re-wired (guy missed like 4 outlets)
- Nothing else, we still haven't even unpacked any boxes
The anniversary prompted a sudden flurry of activity and we paid a plasterer to patch up after the electrician. He did an amazingly shit job and the walls now have all sorts of intriguing curves and bulges. Thought about quibbling but too English, so just paid and then painted over it in a zesty green which actually does distract very well from the artisan texturing.
Bolstered by my painting success, I am now firmly back on the home renovation train. Our house has no hallway, and not only does the front door open into the living room, it also opens directly onto the stairs. Does anyone else have this set-up? I need #designinspiration.

I need help. :(
I have planted raspberry canes, a gooseberry, and a a blackcurrant bush. I stuck them in the soil in December (I think).
The gooseberry and currant came as very small plants (3-4 branches of 20cm emerging from a central crown) and now have lots of leaves, but no vertical growth. Will this come, or should I prune the ends of the branches to stimulate growth?
The raspberry came as four canes in a pot. It's an autumn-fruiting one. I planted the canes but didn't cut them back. Should I do that now, or is it too late?

God, I would love to live next door to a chip shop. Yes, I know - smells, loitering, loud fish-based chat, endless styrofoam boxes outside my front door. But there's no downside great enough to outweigh having chips and giant pickles on tap. (I was very distressed to discover that pickles are apparently a southern thing.)

Haha! Didn't even notice. My childhood home had the tiniest bathroom and the bath and toilet were crammed right next to each other (your thighs would be touching the bath), so I guess it seems normal to me.
