There was a fairly comprehensive study done by either NYU or Columbia University after the 2016 election that sought to demonstrate gender bias in the electorate. The thesis was that men (especially conservative men) won't vote for women. The surprise outcome was that a female candidate with Trump's platform was the most popular, with a slight uptick amongst conservative men. Palin 2024!

Mr Davies said: “I blame the closure of my shop a bit on society, everyone is busy with work
Is this satire?
I think it signifies the changing population demographic through the eyes of a long-time business owner.
Bakers Arms was originally built for almshouses. The area is no longer affordable to pensioners and a lot of older working class families have left the area. So he probably saw his traditional customer base leave, replaced by young professionals who work long hours and couldn't get to a shop that was open 9-5, Mon-Sat.

I went in there a couple of times trying to get fish and he was always extremely unhelpful and seemed like a sitcom caricature of a useless shop owner
Yeah, there seems to be a consensus about this. I'd been going there for years but the vibe changed some time ago. I wonder if he was crumbling under the stress. Either way, I don't believe a lack of parking or car accessibility was the death knell.

I always wondered how Johnny Ramon (another dead right wing icon) felt about this one.
Edit: Originally the song was deemed simply “Bonzo Goes To Bitburg,” but guitarist Johnny Ramone refused the title because of his strict conservative approach and full support of Reagan. The title was changed to “My Brain Is Hanging Upside Down” with “Bonzo Goes To Bitburg” appearing in parenthesis. Regardless of the change, the song is simply known as “Bonzo.”

Doc: Then tell me future boy, who's President of the United States in 1985?
Marty: Ronald Reagan.
Doc: (Increasingly agitated and bewildered) Ronald Reagan!? The actor!? And who's Vice President? Jerry Lewis? (Shouting) And I suppose Jane Wyman is First Lady and Jack Benny is Secretary of the Treasury. Argh!
Marty: Doc, ya gotta listen to me.
Doc: I've had enough practical jokes one evening, good night future boy!
