I was searching for a steel frame in blue or white paint, with chrome rear stays and fork. So I found this and really liked the frame. But there will be some changes to the components!
- Change that ugly seatpost and saddle. Find a Campagnolo aero style seatpost, and either a white Selle San Marco Concor saddle or maybe even a Cinelli Volare saddle, if a double rainbow decides to show up in east London.
- Change the Deda stem and get a quill stem (probably a Nitto Pearl quill stem, Cinelli 1A or if i'm lucky to find one, a Cinelli 1R)
- Change LOOK pedals to MKS Royal Nuevo or some other Campy pedals with straps.
- Change brake calipers to the Athena skeleton calipers I have stashed away.
- Replace gear and brake cables and cable housing to white.
- Change handlebar tape to blue/white fade tape (or just white).
- Hopefully find some white rubber hoods for the brake levers.
- Get a longer Campy bb, as the smaller chain ring is WAY too close to the frame.
- Find an alloy headset locknut to replace the ugly black plastic one that's on it.
And once there are more 'figures' in my bank account, I am hoping to get some wheels built to the H plus son TB14 rims I bought a while ago, with Sapim Race spokes and brass nipples.
I have a long way to go!!!

So after riding my mum's old Giant small road bike (53 or 54 size) for a long time, I decided to finally fork out on a frame more suitable for my height (185cm). This will hopefully be a full documentation of my bike project. Any tips, advice and comments are most welcome and appreciated.

So, I have received a bike I bought off the 'bay and the chainset is dangerously close to the frame! The current bottom bracket is a Italian thread Chorus 102mm cartridge bb, so I think for my double ring chainset I would need a 113mm bb.
Would anyone now specifically what bb length I need for a double ring Campy Daytona chainset? And does anyone have any Campagnolo bb do sell or give away?
I'm gona be running a 9 speed Veloce rear derailleur and brifters.

Hi, could any of you guys/gals confirm if this bike is actually a Bianchi, and if it is what model? I found it weird that it doesn't have a head badge or any machined Bianchi logos on the frame. Any help is great!

Thanks for all the replies. It's been helpful to hear your experiences. Good to know that most of you have good things to say about the TB14 rims.
Now, do any of you have a wheel builder based in London that is experienced and doesn't charge too much?
I recently visited Isambard's bike shop on Bethnal Green Road, and he charges £25 labour per wheel, which I found reasonable. Anyone had wheels built by Isambard's or have any comments about their work?

Thanks for the replies.
I do really like the appearance of them, and especially the 23mm wide rim.
I'm looking to build the 36hole TB14 polished rim using Sapim Race spokes, probably laced 3 or 2 cross, onto Dura Ace 7400 road hubs.
The guys at Wheelsmith Ltd, mentioned that out of the 2 TB14 silver polished rims they built, they both have came back with the cracks at the spoke hole. But I have also emailed other wheel builders to see what they think of them.
I find that most people have had good reliability with the TB14.

Thanks for the replies guys.
I am hoping that those rims with cracks at the spoke holes were just a bad batch and from the early years of production. Surely recent production TB14 are better. I ordered the rims a few days ago, but just today i come across these 'issues' with the rims. It kind of put me off and got me worried if I should build on them. I really do like the look and sound of them tho. Hopefully they are not cursed! :s

Ouch, sorry to hear that MBroady. So they were a reliable rim? I am exactly thinking of getting the same ones as you, polished silver 36 hole drilling, but the guys from Wheelsmith Ltd told me that out of the 2 he built, they both suffered from cracks at the spoke holes. So I have been reasearching the internet to find if other have experienced the same.
If money was no object, I would race to put the Campagnolo Record 8 speed groupset. It is probably one of the most beautiful groupsets, in my opinion. (Haha, this particular set was sold at around £1000!!!). At the mo, I will stick with the 9 speed Campy Veloce groupset.
