I’m switching out some old post/IS mount forks
My new forks are flat mount
I have a hope Rx4 post mount caliper and the appropriate adapter
I also have a sram force flat mount caliper
Which should I use? I prefer the Hope as I have a sram flat mount as the back brake, and I think the Hope has more stopping power, but is the adapter a compromise I don’t need?

I’m in two minds about Nirvana.
I had a tape of bleach which I liked a bit, then suddenly binged about two days before Nevermind. I hammered Nevermind and by the time unplugged came out, I was over them, so this is almost new to me now. His voice is great, his guitar tone is grim, should have played a beat up nylon string guitar. But if you are talking grunge cover versions...I think the Afghan Whigs created a genre with this

Went Down a bit of a rabbit hole with the song: in the pines/where did you sleep last night?/Black Girl
It’s a composite of at least 2 folk songs and has been dated as far back as 1840, but elements are probably far older.
There are various themes; a destitute woman, a jealous husband, a concerned lover/friend/parent/sibling, possessive pimp, . Technological progress and a big train, a corrupt politician, an industrial accident, murder, a yearning to escape.
The emphasis of the themes seem to be drawn along class and racial lines. You will probably know this version
Which was fed by
Leadbelly variation under the title of “Black Girl” the emphasis changes
But on the other side of the tracks you have
It’s all about the train
And then circling back to something this century

I think the way for students to go is to talk about the stuff that is sensitive to the University Industry; huge pay disparity between the teaching staff and senior management, corporate interests, unsavoury investments which alumni turned out to be terrorists or nonces.
See how long it is before the deplatforming appears -

Cable discs are ok, not the best but usually good enough. I have an arthritic thing in my fingers so hydro’s help because I’m not obliged to squeeze the hell out of the brakes if I really need to stop.
Totally agree about tapered fork
Brother do a straight steerer fork for reasonable money

Flat mount are the new standard
You can easily find an adapter to put a post/IS mount caliper on a flat mount fork, but not the other way round.
So if you want a modern hydro disc groupset you need a flat mount fork.Thru axle...no idea though, seems a little excessive for road/gravel but that’s what my replacement forks came with
