About 4 years ago, I started collecting bikes with the view to opening a free entry museum/coffestop/workshop in my retirement.
I decided to concentrate on the 80's and 90's, as there was an array of steel, alloy, carbon and titanium, and bike designs were free, as was wheel size.
Well the collection has grown quite quickly , to where I now have around 65 bikes, including pro team bikes,Olympic games road and track bikes, and a lot of ground breaking (at the time) bikes.
But one had always eluded me....the Lotus.
I was fortunate enough recently, to have been put onto someone who had one. He was selling complete (modern build) but I negotiated frame/fork only, as I knew a 'period' build was the way to go.
And so, I finally have a Lotus 110, and decided on a 'Chris Boardman' build, similar to what he rode at the 1994 World Championship TT.
So the build is:
Lotus 110 frame and fork
Mavic Comete carbon rear disc wheel
Mavic 3G carbon front wheel
Mavic Starfish (631) cranks
Mavic Zap Electronic rear derailleur
Mavic Zap (862) front derailleur
Mavic Zap (451) brakes and brake levers)
Look ergostem
Mavic Bullhorn handlebars
Mavic (357) aero bars (cut down)
Shimano bar end shifter
Mavic Zap electronic button shifter
Selle Italia Flite saddle (wil put a Flite Max saddle on if I can find a good one)
There are a few details still to complete...the tape is too thick so bars need retaping, Gears are operational, just need some fine tuning, and the all carbon fork required a couple of the stainless steel dropout protectors, so these are being machined -

The new Decals arrived, so got them on the bike...... Parts for the build that I have confirmed but not received yet are.....Mavic SSC brake calipers , Mavic SSC pedals, Mavic stem.
Items to get include Reydel saddle, Mavic brake levers (I have the Modolo versions which are the same, but have Modolo printed on them....)
I also need to find out what handlebars were used...I have a picture of Sean Kelly and the bars seem to have a very short reach...almost like a road bar, upside down and cut to length.......
Also have the correct disc (Comete +/- with magnets) coming......
To be continued!! -

Recently purchased a Vitus Carbone 9 Lo Pro from Kev (GreatSince78) on the complete bikes/frames and forks classified page.
But the story starts before that. About 2 months ago, I purchased a bulk amount of groupsets and parts. When I collected these parts from the owner, I mentioned that the older Mavic parts would lend themselves nicely to a Vitus KAS build.....little did I know!!
Here are the groupset parts that started the idea.. -

P.M'd you now.
The other bike in pic is a custom built 1990 Bauer, built in New Zealand, Columbus Max tubing. It was built for me when I raced, and I liked the MBK Lotto SuperClub colour scheme, hence the same paint as Lo pro. So now I have the original bikes that my bike was based on.
The Lo pro is a genuine team bike, rider was Peter Roes. The levers are Modolo Kronos, made out of resin that were tried out at the time (1990) for their light weight.. Checkout the link to see my collection so far.....looking to open a museum/coffestop/workshop when I retire for others to enjoy the bikes of 80's/90's as I do. http://www.pedalroom.com/members/Forzabikes
