@ectoplasmosis I copied the inner tubes idea of someone who picked something up from me on his cargo bike. They work really well, grippy, easy to tie and it's better than them going in the bin. Eye injuries, from the bungie cords with metal hooks, are quite common apparently and can be quite serious.

@velosaurus I made one before and it worked OK ending throwing it as I was having a tidy up. The problem with the home made ones is that they're big.

0.05mm doesn't sound like much of gap, there must be tolerances on bearings and deformation in a few places that could eat up .05???
I suppose if you have kit why not try though?
If I had a lathe I'd be knocking out all sorts of stuff!
