Looking around there are so many non-brands now, recycling all the AliEx kit.
I’m amazed the Mindless branded bits were reduced cheaper than an ebay special.
My money’s on a lot of the gummy sub-80a ebay wheels being identical on a cruiser to the branded ones. I can’t see a lazy rider like me noticing that much at the speeds I will ride now.
Maybe back in the mid 00’s I could have felt the difference in rolling resistance but even these awful 55 suckas with “Abec7” actually roll a few feet.

Arrived today just in time for shit damp weather all weekend. Perfect.
Bought the extra bits while on offer, for when I bother to service one of the old decks. Couldn’t find a couple of them when at the parents’ so maybe I sold or gave them away already.
@sacredhart thank you for the heads-up, short of the tiny wheels it’s exactly what I wanted… right down to the concave.
Gonna have a wobble on it later maybe, and decide what wheels to replace these little 55’s with.
Somewhat nervous rolling into town on wheels small enough that a snail’s fart could stop dead.

Do you have a main dealer or a used bikes dealer nearby?
Cumbria is too far away or I’d say come visit Swindon. Lots of London customers buy in Swindon and have a (mate of mine) courier deliver the bike to London town. Apparently it saves hundreds vs buying in the big city.
If nothing else the benefit of the shops is sitting on the bikes and seeing what fits you and what just looks like crap.

Considering that microplastics are currently polluting even the air we breathe, it is difficult to believe a 5 year old unopened helmet is any worse than a brand new one.
However, after a season wearing a helmet you can feel the plastics aren’t the same. You see the foam inserts are all collapsing to your head shape, the lid creaks and cracks. That’s before you consider the little boops the helmet had when nobody saw you drop it.
Dirt helmets are even worse. I still wear the one that had a muddy mark along the top of it where I went sliding on the clay, and my trials lid bounced down a flight of stairs before I even got to wear it. Neither show impact damage on the internal foam areas. Neither are used at speeds greater than cycling paces.
I try to replace my road helmet every couple of years because the on-and-off gestures are stressing the plastics and internals. I probably wouldn’t buy a helmet older than 5 years unless it was a bargain just because it’s easy to get <3 year old one for cheap.

Yea that would be great, looks like the modern evolution of the original Slide prototype I bought from them in like…2005?
They’re out of stock at Lush at the mo. Emailed them to ask when it’ll be back in stock. Last time I emailed the guys was about 2006 shortly after their move to Bristol!
Ordered that Mindless deck but concerned the wheels are just too small for my riding style (lazy, cruising, commuting) so we’ll see if I get something big and gummy once it arrives or if I save toward the Lush complete.
There’s a Heroin Egg III and also a Crusher on ebay. They look pretty cool for being much wider pig decks.
This thing is so damn tiny, it’s concave which helps, and running Avalons so it laughs at stones. Can’t wait to ride something with room to move feet around again though.

TL:DR - where do people buy shit now?
Long version:
So this happened the other day. After owning this little thing forever I used it again. Last time was Jan ‘23 and before that who knows? Pretty sure it was a Shiner warehouse clear-out around 2005?
Anyway. Now I’m in that ‘mid-late 30’s’ and living in flat Devizes, I fancy a good long wide pool/pig deck.
At some point I’ll get all my longboards from the loft at the parents’ house.
Where do people order things online now? I fancy a Santa Cruz reissue style pig deck.
Should I just wait til I’m somewhere like Bath or wherever still has a shop?
I want to support local, but sod paying 200% markup on Bones Reds.

I guess my experience is seeing people trying to use them on “easy” green lanes and struggling, and then trying to ride them long distance and struggling.
Totally with you, they are a love-to-hate bike and I was sorely tempted to own one before realising the DR350 was a better platform for me at the time. With prices now, if you’re doing commuting and rare gravel there’s almost nothing else in class.
