All the basics are there- 100m + per week, some speed work, lots of protein and carbs and plenty sleep.

Iceland sounds like an ideal Spine training place- can you get there cheaply?

Did first recce for the Spine on Saturday- circa 50 miles from Edale to Hebden Bridge. It was amazing going across Saddleworth Moor at night, a bit spooky especially at one point when the hairs on the back of my back stood up as I sensed something was looking at me, turned and my head torch picked up the reflection of eyes in the dark about 20m away staring right at me! Then I saw more eyes- all looking at me, was convinced that I was about to be attacked by a pack of wolves- then I realised they were sheep!
