Agree on the Bow flyover...the best way to go, but only an option really for bold/fast cyclists at the moment. As there is absolutely nowhere to go other than straight over for cyclists using the roundabout heading east or west, it seems crazy to me that they didn't use the flyover for the cycling infrastructure there. Too late now I guess.

Good point...but with a coach at the side of the track telling them what to do that can't work much at that level. On another note, I'm sure I saw the Swiss coach showing his man lap times on an iPad when he went through...is that allowed? I know they can communicate with the riders, but showing them on a screen...

Did you get a turbo trainer in the end? Could sign up for trainer road or something similar, they seem to have a wide enough variety of plans to get going and is relatively cheap....you don't have to do all of the sessions on the turbo either, could just nick the basic framework of a workout and do it on the road. Also, if you pay monthly, you could start on trainer road now on the turbo, get the training plans, copy them down, and when you're back out training on the road cancel your subscription to TR....

Those bars, and Voigt and Brandle's bikes should also fall foul of the rule that says 'It must be marketed (i.e. available for sale on the market) or marketable (i.e. available for sale directly from the manufacturer, by subscription or through an alternative distribution network', but hey, I guess the UCI are just happy for some positive attention for a change and don't want to be seen as killing the record. Again.

My commute too! Loads of poor driving there is due to people trying to use those roads as a shortcut too...bad for other road users, but really bad considering the primary school down there has entrances on both roads. Would be nice to see a bit more effort to enforce the 20mph limit in places like that.

I'm not aware of anything you could do that would require you do get accredited again...
To be honest I haven't seen any crashes yet in the SQTs, but definitely plenty of dodgy riding - it is often in the changing in pairs warmup, probably because it's the first thing you do on the night. A couple of weeks ago one guys back wheel was sliding all over the place - the bunch basically shouted him out...don't know whether it was tyres or technique though...

If you do the standard SQT session, the endurance riders do 20 minutes on at a time, compared to the sprinters 10 minutes, so you get 1hr 20 as an endurance rider in those sessions. To be honest, I don't expect to improve my fitness at the SQTs, I only do two a month as it is; my main aim is track time for the experience so the breaks don't necessarily bother me. I do wonder however, whether better value could be had with one group staying on the track for the whole hour (paying less for the privilege of course!) and just pulling over to the railing to get instructions from the coach. Could do a whole hour of sufferfest style intervals like that....I always enjoy it when we do 20mins of pyramid intervals at SQTs - imagine doing that x3!

Long Lane, Southwark has a 20mph speed limit painted on the road. Drivers are oblivious to it.
Sticking to the 20mph limits while driving round my way regularly gets me beeped at or overtaken - the speed limits are painted on there too. Can't help but think signs would be more visible. Wouldn't stop some drivers from being twats though.

Most long-course bikes look ugly so I agree for the most part
This is all I'm saying. What I mean when I say the fuel cell isn't integrated, I mean it's an add on to the frame....you could say panniers are integrated too. It just LOOKs a bit rough to me, although I'm sure I'd appreciate it's value in the circumstances it's designed for.

Absolutely un-fucking-believable rationale from the police there. If you're on the road without hi-viz or a helmet (peds included) then you're fair game for drivers, as long as they only run you over at 30mph. Of course, if it had gone to court then the jury of fellow motorists would've let her off, while remembering all the close calls they've had when faffing with the radio, glovebox, makeup, mobile phone etc....
