Funnily enough, have been thinking about getting a fixed gear bike again for a while. Think it's the only thing from living in London I miss, especially as now working from home full time so no commute by bike into Zone 1 etc.
Now tempted even more but options for #buyers in darkest Worcestershire are limited and budget is non-existent.

I seem to remember there was a new thing that let you DNS on calendar events without having to email the organiser [which I'm happy to do but aware they have a lot of thankless admin to do already]. Have I imagined it?
[Got family staying this weekend and can no longer do the lovely 100k jaunt I had signed up to]

@pdlouche Tbh I don't think anyone has grounds to complain tbh, the amount of work, effort, skill and time to do this all so quickly is incredible so you've got nothing to apologise for, especially a lack of freebies!

Posting the below as feel pretty helpess and wondering what I can do to support people in Ukraine. Links to where you can donate and some good resources too [I work for a charity and we partner with British Red Cross so has come from their Emergencies Appeal via a colleague]
"With the crisis in Ukraine continuing to impact the lives of thousands of people, your help is appreciated. Red Cross teams in Ukraine and the border countries are providing essential aid. In Ukraine, Ukrainian Red Cross volunteers are providing first aid, warm clothes, and support in shelters and metro stations. You can find out more about our response here.

The best way to help in this emergency, if you can do so, is to donate money to the Disaster Emergency Committee (DEC) Ukraine Humanitarian appeal. We are unable to accept goods or send volunteers abroad – you can find out more here.
Fundraising :
We are looking for people to help ‘shake a bucket’ at locations across the UK between Thursday 17th March – Saturday 19th March. If you can spare two hours and are over 18, you can sign up here for a slot near you.https://volunteer.redcross.org.uk/opportunities/22596-fundraising-bucket-shaker-volunteer-2021-11-09
If you can encourage others in your network to sign up to volunteer we have a draft email you could send and media assets to share here.

My method is to pour boiling water into the flask and leave for 10-15 mins before adding the hot drink. Does help it last longer.
Then put the flask in a pannier and tootle off for the day down some lanes and b-roads.
If there's some loose chippings or mud ask yourself if it would be worth getting a gravel bike, then realise it's not worth the hassle of setting up a #BikePacking specific #OutsideIsFree Instagram account and buying the right dangle mugs as it would get in the way of a nice day out.
Perhaps I should unfollow this thread again...

Question for hive mind - I've been teaching myself to play bass again for the past 18months/2 years after a 20-year break.
I can't afford lessons but want to start playing with others to accelerate learning and for it to be more fun alongside keeping the music book and YT sessions going. Music should be played with others, right?
What's the best way of seeking people to jam with? For context, I've recently re-located so don't have much in terms of social networks/people I can just ask and I'm a bit nervous about rocking up at a jam night as don't think I'm there just yet in terms of ability or confidence.
Any advice/thoughts?
