Have a good set of standard t&c's to give yourself some protection. Include invoice dates, notice period etc. DM me as I have a template I can send as well as template for mapping a sales / client pipeline if useful.
Think like a sales team and make a list of people you've worked with that you got on with/would work with again. See what they're up to and if you can have a coffee (may lead to referrals).
Figure out what day rate feels right for you. Then up it as people will pay. (advice I was given was what salary would be ideal, then divide by 42 to give week rate with 10 weeks off per year for sickness/holiday/bank holidays etc).
Write down why you are going freelance and any hard lines/non negotiables you want to set for yourself - work days/hours, ideal clients, if you want to be part of a project team or completely working on your own, any values that are important to you so you know what you're looking for in a piece of work/client.
Experiment with working at home, trial co-work spaces and coffee shops etc (working from home full time gets me a little stir crazy)
Network like someone else said - find your 'tribe' and peers as well as possible clients and collaborators. Other freelancers tend to be really supportive and helpful so just keep talking to people that have done similar.

I’d plan to do both tbh - controls can be a meal stop or just get a stamp/answer a question on the card.
If you’re well fuelled you can either decide to skip queues at a control and just get a stamp if you’re feeling good, or take a well earned break, sit down and refuel.
Eat enough to enjoy the day and remember it’s all about doing it in your own time/at your own pace. (These are what I normally forget and so bonk/DNF/hate myself and everyone else with 100k to go).

I’ve been using a Saris solo bike rack on the back of my vw polo for years now. Does make me a little nervy but never had an issue with it and keeps the bike secure. I do take it steady on motorway/dual carriageways and corners but even if it slides a little the bike and rack still hold in place.
Cheap and does the job.
Top tip: use a toe strap or similar to strap the front wheel to the frame so it doesn’t spin/wobble and also you’ll need to wrap the pedal that faces the car with a soft cloth or similar to stop it scratching the paintwork.

Am now getting into gargeband recording and creating bits and pieces. Part of me would like to build up a pedal board or invest in a multi-effects pedal for likely live stuff coming up in the next few months. Any thoughts/recommendations?
Boss multi fx seems most highly rated but part of me would prefer the simplicity of a pedal board with a few key options rather than a more complicated interface.
Need a bass amp upgrade soon too.

Treated myself to a Focusrite Scarlett from thomann and finally hooked it all up last night. Did try to use ableton lite as it comes with the Scarlett, but far too fiddly so used garage band for plug and play.
Really clean and simple being able to plug direct in from the output socket on the amp.
Thanks for the tips!

Any tips on where forum members get that additional +£50k from? Asking for a friend.
(No worries if you’re just trolling because you’re too sexy and cool tho)
