Vans do decent waterproof trainers, they look like normal old skools just with a protective layer. I took mine to Berlin and Manchester, both when it was snowing last year, and they still look almost new. I'm surprised how long they've lasted as I wore them a lot for work.
Oh and they're fleece inside so they're super cosy.

Really enjoying my new commute, it's a good wake up call with it being an hour each way too. Only downside is the terrible driving that goes on around Notting Hill, no one seems to like waiting at mini roundabouts?

Quite often the plodders finish and superfast shiny new racy bike types either knacker the bike beyond repair in a few laps or just push too hard and blow up.

This! Especially at this particular event. I've watched it a couple of times now and some of the riders attempting to bomb it around are actually in a group of 4 or so people, so they only have to do a lap every couple of hours.
Finishing a 12 hour event like this is already a huge achievement.

Yeah that's me. Bit weird from a glance I bet, I had no pedals as my cages were on the njs and I was making one of various trips to my new flat.

Webbing, you can get cotton or nylon. I use it a lot at work and always prefer to use cotton. You can get various widths and it comes on a roll so you can get as much/little as you need.

Anyone on here worked in MediaCity? I'm not hearing great things about it but was kinda looking forward to it. I'm only there for 6 days, but I just wanna know what it's actually like rather than judging it from photos and the miserable lot at work.

I'm not as familiar with South Wales, but I've found it's always a gamble on the weather when visiting Wales - but it's worth it rain or shine.

I used the trail as part of my commute briefly in the summer and it was lovely and quiet, always baffled me too.

I use Raceblades. Like Duke said they can be a bit annoying to get on the front but it works for me on my Bolt, and I like the way they look too.
Don't have a photo of the front guard but you kinda get an idea..

I wouldn't go for coloured cables, particularly not yellow if you're running gumwalls. I'd leave it as it is and the decals (if you're still getting those) will give it a nice finish.

That said, with the red inside the fork I'd go for black tyres too.
