My mum’s fella had one of those bitd, he let me drive it when I was 19, I took it to the car park where my boy racer mates hung out to show off. I remember crunching the gears, and that it was cool as fuck and unimaginably fast compared to my 1.1 Renault 5. It was definitely not revered the way it is now though, just seemed too anachronistic in its day. /csb

Long time lurker etc...
Don’t have the funds for a genuine nice Swiss piece of kit, been looking at reps but it makes me feel a bit weird, came close to ordering a knockoff Tag SpaceX. Anyhow, these two seem to speak to me, both of them because they’re not trying to look like an earnest discount Rolex; the Seiko reminds me of the gauges in my car and the Swatch just looks like a bit of fun with the primary colours. -

Too macho for my taste. I usually wear a silver f-91w but it looks a bit small. I do use a stopwatch several times a day and Casios are very convenient but then I've always got an iPhone in my pocket.
This thread has got under my skin. Very sorry to say, but whenever I saw someone with a big expensive watch I would immediately think 'wanker' but I have figured out detaching nice engineering from status symbolism and I've got the bug.
