Whilst on the subject of track days, one of the best I've done that wasn't in my own car was a Lotus Exige experience at Thruxton. 12 laps split across two sessions and a couple of flying laps with the instructor driving.
Unlike with the supercars, here the instructor positively encourage red-lining the car, braking as late as possible, etc.
Great fun and you actually learn a thing or two.

EDIT: Doesn't look like they do the Exige anymore but same thing offered in the Alpine A110.

2nd the advice to nail it from the get go. Some instructors will keep asking you to shift way too early (protect car from repeated thrashing) but I've just ignored it when that's happened, as long as you're not driving dangerously there's very little they can do.

Shimano Zee has worked pretty well for me, clutch is handy for any rough stuff. might be a bit overkill if just pootling about town though.

Ta, will stick with black hubs and for the other bits I'm torn between black and orange. Will have a few drinks then decide, I always make brilliant decisions when half cut.

Thoughts on colour of Hope bits (hubs, clamp, headset) to go with the deep grey frame?

Black is the safe option, silver and orange both match bits of the graphics which I like the idea of but not sure if colourful hubs are just going to look shit?

Judging by the pics its hard to believe that the bike was packed well enough for transit. Axles in such close proximity to the frame should have been thoroughly covered and everything padded out to eliminate/reduce movement within the box. If box arrives beaten to shit and contents damaged then that's a different story. But if box arrives in OK condition and contents are damaged then that's bad packing and on the seller IMO.
