So my pension plan is a flat in Acton that I rent out to a lovely couple who work in the now almost totally defunct service industry. I spoke to them a couple of days ago and dropped the rent substantially, the fact is given the base rate news, I may be able to do more now. This isn't great for me but I am in a good place compared to a lot of people on this board. So what's my point?
My point is that the government should be asking all landlords who can to do the same to do exactly that. Not just that but the really big landlords should be leading the charge and making a gesture that others can follow, Prince Charles, The Duke of Westminster, Robbie Fowler whoever. Why is there silence on this issue. We need a high profile landlord to step up and show a lead on this!

As an aside I have never voted for the current incumbents in my life, however I have infinite sympathy for people who are in daily meetings where the discussion is about not about how to keep everyone alive, but about the most pragmatic way to arrive at the fewest fatalities. It must be a truly dreadful experience. I know that there are people in this world (and this board) who are so rabidly political that they are unable to have any empathy at all on this point, but I would point out to them that pure political self preservation instincts would have made life a lot easier for our leaders if they had just instantly fallen in line with other EU countries.

Everything I read says that herd immunity will arrive way in advance of any vaccine. Given that herd immunity is estimated as 60% infection/recovery, then I start to understand government strategy. We need to make sure that the people more likely survive infection are in the vangard of people being exposed, keep schools open, have pop festivals and sporting events, in the most parts attended by under 60's, while at the same time keeping our most vulnerable under wraps. However this is actually the race to 60% with the proviso that we need to keep the infection rate at a level that the health service can deal with.

I've just been out for a bike ride with my wife, her bike isn't in the best of shape, and I'm not particularly good at the maintenance side, I'm wondering if this is an earning opportunity for any West London forum members, if a way of exchanging the bike safely can be arranged?
