Got me all reminiscing now.
Who was on Dogsballs' Australia Day ride that went through Richmond Park at night with the deer stampeding next to us?
And the Cambridge ride in the dead of winter, where a bunch of hipsters in skinny jeans, vans and bare ankles left brick lane on their sweet fixies quite late in the morning (natch) and after an epic day found themselves 10 miles outside of Cambridge, freezing cold, with the sun setting and only a bunch of knog lights to navigate the country lanes. Cue panic and the quickest bunch sprint I've ever been in.

Pretty sure the drunk TT also originated at easts.
Starting around 10pm, after way too many beers we would move outside and someone would take off down Grove Rd, around the Old Ford Rd roundabout, back to the Victoria Park Rd roundabout and then back to the Royal Inn. A good time pretty much depended on how many beers you'd had and how aggressively you handled traffic on the roundabouts.

Yeah, gutted I didn't see any polo peeps.
I think the change in temperature from freezing cold in the start pens to baking hot once the the sun came out was pretty brutal. And yep, the bit round the Olympic Park was harsh. Why the inclines!!
Overall, really enjoyed it though. I just love the atmosphere of the HH. The steel bands on the corners, the Japanese(?) drummers near the end, running the empty streets that I usually hang out in. Great stuff.

This does upset me when people say things like they are ‘terrified’ of Diane Abbott becoming Home Secretary, Corbyn becoming PM etc
I assume the issue with Corbyn/Abbott/McDonnell seems to be that they are incompetent and will do a terrible job. But often, even their fiercest critics will agree that they are good people/have good intentions/their heart is in the right place etc. But they are concerned about their competence.
But then May/Johnson/Rudd/Gove etc, have proven themselves time and time again to be incompetent. From Brexit to Windrush to everything else in-between. Moreover, they are terrible, mendacious, selfish, mean-spirited people. yet the same ‘fear’ doesn’t exist when faced with the prospect of these people having the reins of power to do what they will with. Go figure.

Didn't South Korea just topple their right wing, US supporting president and elect a lefty, 'make peace with the North' president? Unlike his predecessor for the last 6 years, he campaigned and had a stated goal of improving relations with the north.
When relations improve and talks begin, Trump and his madman act get the credit!

Pretty interesting read on Marion Hammer, an NRA lobbyist in Florida, who over the last 30 years has written and helped pass most of the nutty gun laws that have been copied by other states, i.e. concealed carry, stand your ground etc
https://www.newyorker.com/magazine/2018/03/05/the-nra-lobbyist-behind-floridas-pro-gun-policies
"As recently as 1988, Cole notes, a federal court maintained that “for at least 100 years [courts] have analyzed the second amendment purely in terms of protecting state militias, rather than individual rights.” The subsequent shift toward individual rights can be traced back to Hammer.

Completely agree with this. If you are poor and in dire straights, believing that Johnson, Farage and Rees-Mogg are going to help you out is pretty crazy.
