Given refusing the plan was likely to lead to Thames Water collapsing, something that Ofwat would not contemplate, Gardiner told the Ofwat chief executive, David Black: “They have got you by the short and curlies, haven’t they?”
Always nice to hear the truth come out about our official regulators every now and then, rather than the bland statements we usually hear

Some interesting nuggets in the ongoing Thames Water debacle.
They are struggling to pay their debts (£18 billion at last count) so hit up their shareholders for a cash injection. Shareholders duly injected £750 million. it turns out that £500 million of that was actually a loan, payable at 8% interest.
They now want OFWAT to agree to increase customer bills by 40% to be able to meet repayments.
Absolute scam.

OMG. Rebel Moon is so terrible.
I read your review(s) but still kind of thought can't be that bad.
Oh it was much worse. How does such a shit movie get made? At some point, isn't someone in the massive studio system that is Netflix sort of legally required to point out to the director how shit the dialogue is, how the plot doesn't make any sense and the photography looks like it was shot by a small child.
God knows how much money they spent on this crap. And this was only Part 1. Total rubbish

No idea, but there were a few choice bits from this article:
The former biology teacher is a strong advocate of policies to encourage women in the UK to have more children
Cates said the UK’s low birthrate was the most pressing policy issue of the generation, blaming it in part on “a cultural Marxism that is systematically destroying our children’s souls”
Greenberg is investigating eight MPs, with the inquiries dating back to June. Seven are Conservatives
The eighth is the former Tory Andrew Bridgen, who now sits for Reclaim.

Oh wow, just saw Napoleon at the IMAX and what a complete mess it was.
No wonder the French were pissed off! And the historians.
The first 90mins is more slapstick comedy, think National Lampoon rather than Gladiator.
Battle scenes were very average and key moments in history were minimised or left out completely.
Was expecting a serious, dramatic retelling of one of the major figures in European history. Got an overly long Ealing comedy about a horny French dude with lots of dodgy sex scenes.
Ridley Scott has lost the plot.

This Todays Worldview from the Washington Post talks about administrative detention, where Palestinians are being held without charge, often indefinitely. It seems that in the past few days, Israel has detained roughly the same number of people that they have released in hostage exchanges.

Interesting.
IANAL but is that saying that a director must promote the success of the company (maximise profits) for the benefit of its members (shareholders) and in doing so have regard for (but it's just a suggestion):
- workers rights
- environment
-blah blah blah
Maybe the new suggested legislation would place those factors on an equal footing with profits? Similar to a B Corp?
- workers rights
-
It always seemed batshit crazy, bordering on psychopathic, that companies and their directors are legally compelled to maximise their profits, without regard to any other factors. This sounds like a very positive change that needs to happen:
"adding a duty for directors to consider the social, economic and environmental impact of their business alongside profitability and returns for shareholders"
