Theres holes in the flexi waste pipe at the back of the toilet, I don't know what has caused them, I'm hoping it is not rats but there are lots of stories of this on the internet.

Anyway I want it replaced with solid pipe, I understand maybe it's difficult to do because of the space and they want to make sure they can but I am not keen on paying £65 for someone to come and look and then say no.

Ye that's why I'm asking. Would usually just speak with my dad about these issues (we're from Teesside) but I can only imagine he would baulk at the idea.

Is it normal for tradespeople, in this case a plumber, to charge to come out and give a quote? Will only agree to something that I don't actually want doing for a set price. Otherwise it needs an assessment which costs £65.

I'm probably just being picky but I just didn't get a great first impression from any of the people I spoke to. Didn't really seem interested in listening. Wanted to charge me to come and give a quote.

Tbh I never got good vibes from this place, always unfriendly whenever I went in there. I know that's totally anecdotal and a shop doesn't have to be super friendly to do a good job and be a good part of the community but ye, I'm not surprised.

You kind of hope small independent bike shops might have a slightly better ethos than the rest of the capitalist world we live in.

Did the mehteh sell out of pre-orders already in all sizes? I got an email saying pre-orders are open but when i opened it a couple of days later the pre-order button on the website is unclickable.

These are kind of terrible but also kind of amazing and I do kind of want them. The cranks are maybe overkill but the hubs could look really cool on a bike that is quite understated elsewhere.

Anyway, maybe you could check on google street view, you can look years back to see what was there at the time. If it's been there without a front wheel for more than a year, I think you have every right to take it.

I think a wet paint (clear lacquer) "raw" finish would achieve that sort of look but it's not particularly hard wearing. I have a raw pompino and there are hairline rust marks all over the frame now.

Raw powdercoat would be much more resistant but I don't think it would look the same as mash works etc.
